AI to Connealy Counselor on 5-26-12. Pasture exposed to Hoover Excitement K175
from 6-11-12 to 8-8-12. Ultrasound safe to K175, due approximately May 11, 2013.
★
★
K253 is a nice easy fleshing, long bodied, thick, typical Reward daughter with a good
set of scan data.
★
★
K253 is due to K175, the bull we selected to follow closest in Excitement’s footsteps.
★
★
Dam H131 was a first calf heifer with K253. A full sister to H131 works in the herd
and is a high performance cow also, with 2-113 WR.
★
★
H131 scanned a 5.32 IMF, ratio 113 and an 11.2” ribeye, ratio 105.
★
★
Great grandam K483 was a small, efficient cow that weaned a huge percentage
of her body weight. She recorded 13-97 BWR, 13-104 WR, and 13-105 YR. She
produced several photo features in past auctions.

AI to Mogck Bullseye on 5-19-12. Pasture exposed to Connealy Direct Deposit from

K129 comes to auction as a sale highlight – she was the 8
th
top weaning weight
heifer of her crop, and the 2
nd
high yearling weight heifer! Being bred to Bullseye, it
doesn’t come any finer! K129 was a short gestation calf, coming 6 days early. She is
long bodied, deep, and has good muscle shape.
★
★
Dam H138 was a first calf heifer with K129, and she is certainly an up-and-coming
young cow in our herd. Her 2012 son sells as lot 25.
★
★
H138 had very solid individual performance: BW 61 lbs., WW 623 lbs., WR 102,YW 933
lbs.,YR 105, IMF 5.78, ratio 123, ribeye 11.6”, ratio 108.She has a “no holes” set of EPDs.
★
★
Grandam B286 is still going strong at nearly 10 years of age. She is a never-miss
cow with a 363 day calving interval.
★
★
Fourth generation dam J350 still made the Pathfinder report at 14 years of age!
Only a handful of cows in the nation pull off this feat! She ended her career with 13-
99 BWR, 13-104 WR, 12-101 YR, and a 366 day calving interval. J350 is the great
grandam of Hoover Headliner J32, featured on page 5 of our herd sire directory.
★
★
This Blackcap Empress cow family has a long history at Hoover Angus – K129 is the
14
th
generation Blackcap Empress Ellston female! From herd founders Walt & Sadye
Hoover, to John & Barb Kiburz, to David & Joy McFarland, and now 4
th
generation
Landi McFarland, each generation has worked to make a better cow herd. Our
technology, methods of selection, etc. have changed over time, but our goal has
not – to make the most profitable cattle to ensure customer success.
★
★
K129 has the top WW EPD of the spring bred heifers selling as well as the #1 YW
EPD of the entire offering! Her YW EPD spans 7 pounds above the top 1% of the
breed. She has the 3
rd
highest $Beef of all females selling!

K73 offers a solid set of EPDs along with a little more frame. The last four generations
of her cow family have been deep sided, really easy fleshing females. She will follow
the mold.
★
★
Fertility is important to this cow family, and they do a good job at it! Dam C328 has
a 358 day calving interval, grandam A328 a 360 day calving interval, and great
grandam S100 a 363 day calving interval on 14 pregnancies! Cow fertility is one
of the most underappreciated aspects of the beef cattle industry, and has a huge
impact on your bottom line!
★
★
C328’s progeny have been selected by Hawleys Gen X Angus, BC Cattle Co., Mark
Wiemerslage, and Brandon Taglauer.
★
★
K73 is one of the first females carrying a Direct Deposit calf, and I wish we would
have bred more to him this first season. Look for him to be one of the most up-and-
coming bulls in our program.

K139 is an easy fleshing, deep ribbed, square made, good quartered female.
Reward daughters are a very even sire group, and K139 is no exception. K139 has
the 4
th
top IMF scan of the spring bred heifers selling!
★
★
K139’s dam is a beautiful cow – square made, extremely deep bodied, and pretty
fronted. K139 will follow in her mother’s footsteps.
★
★
K139’s maternal sisters working in the Hoover herd have done an exceptional job.
One has earned Pathfinder status, the other has produced a $7000 son!
★
★
Dam D100 produced one of my favorite calves of the 2012 crop – a great Headliner
son that was the 2
nd
high weaning weight bull calf of the crop! He sells as lot 45.
D100 maintains a 364 day calving interval.
★
★
Most of the Keymura females in this auction have deep roots in Ellston, Iowa, and
have thrived here for many generations. One of these Keymura lines has stood intact
for 17 generations, quite a feat!
★
★
K139 has the 3
rd
lowest BW EPD of all the females selling today as well as tying for
the 2
nd
high CED!
