SPRING BRED HEIFERS
AI to Mogck Bullseye on 6-1-12. Pasture exposed to Hoover Excitement K175 from
6-14-12 to 8-8-12. Ultrasound safe to Bullseye, due approximately March 10, 2013.
K103 is deep ribbed, soggy and long.
K103 was born to a first calf heifer, and I’d say she did a fine job! K103 is the 10
th
generation Blackbird of Ellston female raised at Hoover Angus. This cow family has
been an extremely good one!
Dam H3 scanned a huge 13.7” ribeye, to earn a Ribeye EPD of +.88, way above the
top 1% of the breed for current dams. She is one of 63 Hoover-owned females that
rank in or above the top 1% of the breed for Ribeye EPD!
Pathfinder grandam S78 has been retired from the herd, but not before she recorded
12-94 BWR, 12-103 WR, 11-102 YR with a 364 day calving interval on those 12
progeny. Two Pathfinder daughters work in the herd, one of them has averaged
$8100 on her six sons to come to auction, three sons topping the $10,000 mark! Five
of these six sons were features in our past sales.
K103 is one of only three special heifers in this sale bred to Bullseye. Bullseye was
the talk of the nation even before he sold for $192,000.Top breeders from across the
country came to see the bull, and we had requests from people wanting to buy into
the bull after he sold. We chose to remain with the original partners.
Seven Pathfinders are represented in this pedigree, and that will be 8 when CC&7
earns the honor.

AI to Basin Excitement on 5-20-12. Pasture exposed to Connealy Direct Deposit
from 6-4-12 to 8-8-12. Ultrasound safe to Direct Deposit, due approximately April
8, 2013.
This bigger framed, long bodied, feminine heifer will be just right for someone who
prefers to calve after the blizzards have said goodbye for the year.
Dam F155 maintains an excellent calving interval of 359 days. F155 had a successful
career as a young female, weaning at 657 lbs., WR 105, YW 953 lbs., YR 105, IMF
5.41, ratio 120, ribeye 11.3”, ratio 122. Her first daughter sold to repeat customer
Rod Hart.
Grandam S160 is a true low birth weight cow that has maintained the exact same
calving interval as her daughter, just with 13 pregnancies (one set of twins is not
included in her ratios, and one calf died pre-wean). Five daughters have worked in
the Hoover herd, one a Pathfinder. True maternal excellence!
S160’s bull calf she raised at 13 years of age was the #1 adjusted yearling weight
bull of his contemporary group. When a cow can compete with the young cows of the
herd at this age, I’d say she has earned her keep!
K132 ties as the top Docility EPD spring bred heifer to sell!

AI to Hoover Emperor on 5-21-12. Pasture exposed to Hoover Emperor from 5-25-12
to 8-8-12. Ultrasound safe to Emperor, due approximately February 27, 2013.
Dam S160 raised K220 at 14 years of age! A set of bull twins is not included in
S160’s birth, wean, and yearling ratios in the boxes above, but these bulls had wean
ratios of 109 and 114! After her twins, S160 got re-bred and calved 33 days sooner
the following year! S160 has a calving interval of 359 days.
S160 has been a great daughter-maker, giving us 5 replacement daughters in
the herd, one of which is a Pathfinder. Sons and daughters of S160 have been
selected by Ernest Joy, Charles Hartley, Brad Binning, David & Lee Shultz, and
Howard Martin. David & Lee Shultz’ bull was the #1 adjusted yearling weight bull in
his contemporary group.
Pathfinder grandam N47 ended her career with 11-103 WR and one Pathfinder
daughter to her honor.
Take a gander through other purebred sale catalogs that come in your mailbox and
see how many tell of cows that produce until 10+ years of age on a regular basis.
Some herds disperse their cows when they reach 6-7 years of age (just when the
commercial man would be making these females profitable). Stayability (and traits
that go into it, such as calving interval, disposition, udder quality, and soundness)
are very important to the profitability of our customers, and consequently very
important to us! When a cow has an appreciable udder at 10+ years of age and can
raise a good calf, her progeny will add to the bottom lines of our customers.
