SPRING BRED HEIFERS
AI to Hoover Dam on 5-16-12. Pasture exposed to Hoover Emperor from 6-1-12 to
8-8-12. Ultrasound safe to Hoover Dam, due approximately February 22, 2013.
K26 is correct, nice fronted and bigger framed with enough depth to go along with
her size. Her narrow head indicates calving ease. She should be an excellent match
to Hoover Dam!
Dam C226 has produced sons for Mark Bright, Doug Williams and Nick Cain. Mark
fed out steers and heifers sired by this bull and sent me the kill data sheet on these
calves sired by 3 Hoover bulls (one a maternal brother to K26). Steers and heifers
killed in September graded 97.5% Choice and Prime. 22.5% graded Prime, with a
3.0 YG or less! Even though the CAB
®
/Choice and Prime/Choice spread was small,
Mark still garnered a $42.07 per head premium on his biggest group of calves, with
an average live weight of 1113. Congratulations Mark on a great set of calves!
7 Pathfinders are found in this pedigree!

AI to Connealy Counselor on 5-16-12. Pasture exposed to Connealy Direct Deposit
from 6-1-12 to 8-8-12. Ultrasound safe to Counselor, due approximately February
22, 2013.
K50 is a feminine, yet super thick heifer that got both ears froze off because her
mother kept licking her ears after we dried her off when she was born. It was 11
degrees below zero when she was born in our un-heated calving barn. You always
know that cattle with short ears coming from Hoover Angus have darn good mothers!
K50 is an extremely tame heifer that lets most people pet her out in the pasture. If
you happen to be driving a Mule with buckets of feed in the back, she will find them
and help herself! This may come in handy if you have to lead cattle from one place
to another. . . just show her a bucket of feed, and she will follow!
Dam X281 has certainly earned her keep here. She has raised two bull calves that
have come in as one of the top 10 weaning weight bull calves of their crop. One son that
weaned at 802 pounds was a feature bull, and one of the top-selling bulls in our 2007
auction to Michael Murphy. Other sons and daughters have been purchased by Smith
Farms, Loren Parkhurst, Carl Stephens, and Teamwork Acres, all repeat customers.
Grandam R235 had one daughter besides X281, and she earned Pathfinder honors.
All the rest were bulls!
K50 is one of the few spring heifers bred to Counselor, and look what the CC&7
X Counselor mating has done for us – check out featured bulls lots 1 and 10 with
similar pedigrees to K50’s first calf.
K50 has the 2
nd
lowest BW EPD of all females selling today as well as the tie for 2
nd
highest CED! She has the 4
th
highest $W among the bred heifers selling! She would
be a great 4-H project for a youngster because she is so tame.

AI to Basin Excitement on 5-20-12. Pasture exposed to Connealy Direct Deposit
from 6-4-12 to 8-8-12. Ultrasound safe to Direct Deposit, due approximately March
24, 2013.
K75 is a classy gal! She is a bigger framed, long bodied heifer, just like her mother.
She is feminine, correct, has nice depth, and is free and easy moving. She has the
pedigree to make her a 7/8 sibling to the famous Hoover Dam.
Dam F10 has one of the shortest calving intervals in the herd at 351 days.
A full sister to K75 raised the nice lot 14 bull.
Pathfinder grandamZ93 is an easy fleshing low birth to high growth cowwith excellent
carcass attributes. Two sons have been featured in past auctions, and every one of
her daughters (5) have gone into the replacement herd. Z93 has an exceptional 359
day calving interval on 10 progeny and is still going strong! She is the kind of cow the
beef industry needs millions of! Her daughters all have exceptional udders, making
a daughter from this cow family an easy selection.
K75 has one of the top Docility EPDs of the females selling today!
