★ ★ Dam G278 is one of the thickest cows in the herd, with a great quarter and top, yet
feminine in the front end. This certainly shows through in K98.
★ ★ G278’s twin’s ratios are excluded from her birth, wean, and yearling ratios in the
boxes to the left, but if they were included, she would have 4-102 BWR, 4-111 WR,
and 3-111 YR. Even after G278 twinned in 2011, she moved her calving date up 29
days in 2012, and now has a 350 day calving interval!
★ ★ G278’s first son was the featured $17,000 CC&7 son in our 2011 auction hunted by
Genex and purchased by Mike Paul in Edwall, Washington.
★ ★ G278’s 2012 daughter, pictured above, is one of the top calves by Counselor. While
G278 was raising this calf this past summer, G278 got a horrible deep cut below her
dewclaws, and we had to bring her in so we could treat it.We took the portable corral
to her pasture, sorted off G278 and her calf, and left them in a tight holding pen until
the trailer arrived. G278 never made a wrong move, didn’t fidget in the pen, and was
beautifully calm to work with, despite being away from the rest of the herd. I think she
knew she needed help, and she knew we were going to provide it.
★ ★ G278’s individual performance: BW 65 lbs., WW 748 lbs., WR 127, YW 1073 lbs., YR
120, IMF 6.32, ratio 118, ribeye 12.8”, ratio 113. G278 was the 3rd top weaning weight
heifer calf of her crop and the best Statesman daughter we have ever produced.
★ ★ G278 is the 5th high ribeye ratio cow in the Hoover herd, which has bolstered her
Ribeye EPD above the top 1% of the breed!
★ ★ Pathfinder grandam D154 is one of my favorite cows. She has the style and
thickness of Gridiron, as well as amazing performance. In addition to her production
listed in the boxes, D154 ties as the 14th top indexing cow of the Hoover herd and
is the 4th highest ribeye ratio cow! D154 records 4-107 IMF ratio and 4-113 ribeye
ratio. D154 scanned a 14.5” ribeye (current breed average for heifers is 9.67”), and
boasts a Ribeye EPD of +.99, soaring way above the top 1% of the breed. D154
has the 6th highest Ribeye EPD of any cow in production at Hoover Angus. She is
one of 63 Hoover-owned females that rank in or above the top 1% of the breed for
Ribeye EPD!
★ ★ D154’s 2010 daughter was “cover girl” and the $20,000, 2nd top selling female of
our 2011 auction selling to KDS Angus. Jerry Keller purchased D154’s first and only
son, and Jerry knows cattle that have some look and eye appeal, because he raises
top-quality show cattle.

scanned a 4.37 IMF, ratio 104, ribeye 14.4”, ratio 114.

Ellston” female, a 1944 model, sired by cornerstone Hoover herd sire Revolutions
