SPRING BRED HEIFERS
AI to Mogck Bullseye on 5-16-12. Pasture exposed to Hoover Excitement K175 from
6-1-12 to 8-8-12. Ultrasound safe to K175, due approximately March 14-20, 2013.
K137 is a bigger framed, huge ribeye Hoover Dam daughter with big ribeye genetics
on both the top and bottom sides of her pedigree. She is one of the top Ribeye EPD
females to sell today! She scanned the 4
th
biggest ribeye of all the females selling.
She is a complete made female with top, shape, length, and rib.
A full sister to K137 was purchased by Lyle Olson for $5250.
Z176 is a unique cow that could put lots of lean red meat in her progeny AND still
maintain excellent fertility with a 351 day calving interval. We often associate lean
cows as hard fleshing ones, and hence ones that are slower to breed back. Certainly
not the case here!
Maternal grandsire Fame will always be remembered for the excellent udders he
put on his daughters. The same is true for maternal great grandsire, M163. His
daughters have had picture-perfect udders and have been top producers.
This past November in Louisville (NorthAmerican International Livestock Exposition),
I was amazed at how many people I met that had used Hoover Dam. I wish I would
have kept track! Hoover Dam has become a breed favorite, and progeny from his
daughters will be sought after just as direct Hoover Dam progeny are.

AI to Hoover Dam on 5-22-12. Pasture exposed to Hoover Emperor from 6-7-12 to
8-8-12. Ultrasound safe to Hoover Dam, due approximately February 28, 2013.
K164 is a bigger framed tank – deep, beefy, and an easy fleshing female that should
be a perfect mate to Hoover Dam! K164 has the 3
rd
highest IMF scan of the spring
bred heifers selling!
A maternal sister to K164 works in the herd and raised a beautiful Hoover Dam bull
calf that injured his hip and had to be culled. He was probably the best Hoover Dam
calf of the crop before he was injured!
Dam G137 has earned her keep with a 354 day calving interval. Might she be
looking at Pathfinder status in the 2013 report? She looks to have the qualifications.
G137 was a high marbling female with a 6.19 IMF, ratio 116, and has passed this
on to her progeny.
Great grandam V50, a Pathfinder, is one of our favorite cows. She records 11-109
WR with a 356 day calving interval. She raised many top weaning weight bull or
heifer calves of their respective crops. At 12 years of age, her bull calf weaned at 799
pounds to be the 12
th
highest weaning weight bull calf of the crop!
K164 has the 4
th
highest YW EPD of the spring bred heifers selling!

AI to Connealy Counselor on 5-30-12. Pasture exposed to Hoover Excitement K175
from 6-13-12 to 8-8-12.Ultrasound safe to Counselor, due approximately March 8, 2013.
K218 was the 9
th
high weaning weight heifer calf of her crop at over 700 pounds! She
is a bigger framed female that I would expect to put more frame size in her progeny.
She’s big hipped and has good depth to go along with her frame.
Dam H4 was a first calf heifer with K218, and she did a darn good job! Her next
calf by Counselor is darn nice also. H4 has a 347 day calving interval and a picture-
perfect udder.
Grandam X216 has been one of our best cows, and a herd bull maker. At 12 years
of age, she weaned an 825 pound bull calf, the 12
th
highest weaning weight bull calf
of the crop. He is a darn good CC&7 that sells as lot 30.
X216 has produced three photo feature bulls, one that was a full sister to H4. This
guy sold for $6000 to Nathan Palm in South Dakota. Another full brother sold to
long-time repeat customer Ed Claycomb. These full brothers scanned 17.1” and 17.0”
ribeyes! Breed average for yearling bulls is 12.41”.
X216 is the herd’s 7
th
top ribeye ratio cow with 7-111 ribeye ratio! She truly puts high
red meat yield in her progeny. Often times high red meat yield (less external fat) is
antagonistic to reproduction, but not with this cow family. X216 has a 356 day calving
interval at 12 years of age!
