★ ★ K147 aced the ultrasound challenge and now has a Ribeye EPD soaring above the
top 1% of the breed! She has the 3rd biggest Ribeye EPD of the females selling,
and is one of 16 Hoover-owned females with a +1.00 Ribeye EPD or higher! She
is among an elite group of females at Hoover Angus, where 63 Hoover bred and
owned females rank in the top 1% of the breed for Ribeye EPD!
★ ★ K147 has the 3rd highest IMF scan of any female selling today! She is feminine, long
bodied, deep, and moderate framed.
★ ★ A full sister to K147 works in the herd and produced the exceptional bull lot 68. The
dam of lot 68 somehow got bred by an unknown bull, and calved two months before
she was supposed to (with a full term calf). We have parentage tested every herd
bull on the farm, plus the neighbor’s bull, and have determined this female somehow
got bred by one of the yearling bulls we sold in 2011. Even though we don’t know the
sire, this calf was the 6th heaviest weaning weight calf of his crop, and undoubtedly
one of the leaders of the pack! From a first calf heifer, he adjusted to 851 pounds!
The moral of this story is that K147’s full sister did a whale of a job her first year, and
I would expect K147 to do no less.
★ ★ This full sister to K147 weaned as the 7th top adjusted weaning weight heifer of her
crop, and was the 8th top yearling weight heifer.
★ ★ Dam E13 has a 361 day calving interval and was a high performing female herself.
She weaned at 755 lbs., WR 115, YW 1001 lbs., YR 107. She was the 5th top weaning
weight heifer of her crop. E13 scanned a 12.5” ribeye, earning a ratio of 121 and a
Ribeye EPD of +.81 – top 1% of current dams. E13 now serves as the 13th top ribeye
ratio cow of the herd with 3-109 ribeye ratio.
★ ★ Pathfinder grandam S88 is no longer with us, but recorded 10-105 WR and had a
355 day calving interval on 11 progeny (1 calf died pre-wean).We had many positive
reports on how customers liked her progeny.

bottom side of her pedigree – three generations of cows behind her are attractive,
good muscled females with very nice udders.

of Ontario for $4500.

What does it mean to be a Pathfinder (# symbol)?
To become a Pathfinder cow, she must have at least 3
progeny with an average weaning ratio of 105. A cow must
have a regular calving interval and her first calf must be
born close to the average calving date of the herd. These
requirements, along with others, make the “Pathfinder” name
a prestigious honor. A bull must have at least 5 Pathfinder
daughters in one year to become a Pathfinder sire. Pathfinders
are designated by the “#” symbol in pedigrees.
In the 2012 Pathfinder Report, Hoover Angus Farm is
home to 49 Pathfinder cows and 5 Pathfinder sires: SA
Neutron 377 (25 daughters), TC Gridiron 258 (16 daughters),
LaGrand 338 Right Time 3404 (6 daughters), Woodhill
Statesman 54K-90N (6 daughters), and Roth Famous 1006 (5
daughters).
Only the very elite of the breed earn Pathfinder honors – in
any given year, only about ½ of 1% of current Angus dams
make the report.
