SPRING BRED HEIFERS
AI to Mogck Bullseye on 5-10-12. Pasture exposed to Hoover Excitement K175 from
5-25-12 to 8-8-12. Ultrasound safe to K175, due approximately March 23, 2013.
K24 is a bigger framed, easy fleshing, level topped heifer out of an extremely good
cow family!
Pathfinder dam A23 is still going strong at 10 years of age with a 359 day calving
interval! Her first son was a photo feature selling to repeat customer Art McGuire.
Her next son was the 3
rd
top-selling bull the year we sold Hoover Dam!
A daughter of A23 retained in the herd was the 5
th
top weaning weight heifer and
#1 adjusted YW heifer of her crop. This gal is a tank! A23 has a beautiful udder with
perfect, small teats.
Read about great grandam Z156 in the last bullet of lot 123’s footnote.

AI to Basin Excitement on 5-18-12. Pasture exposed to Hoover Excitement K175
from 6-1-12 to 8-8-12. Ultrasound safe to Basin Excitement, due approximately
February 24, 2013.
K217 is a bigger framed, long bodied, clean fronted type of cow that takes after her
mother. K217 will be one of the last females offered for sale by Gridiron. Gridiron is
still alive and doing well, two months away from being 11 years old as I write this
footnote. He still sees natural service every summer at Hoover Angus.
Dam Z28 maintains a perfect 352 day calving interval.A set of twins are not included
by the AAA in her birth, wean, and yearling ratios in the boxes above, but these
bull twins ratioed 113 and 107 at weaning! She twinned in 2010, got bred back and
calved 11 days earlier in 2011!
One daughter of Z28 has earned Pathfinder status, recording a tremendous 4-113
WR. This daughter’s first bull calf sold for $5500.
Z28 had excellent performance data herself: BW 72 lbs., WW 676 lbs., WR 110, YW
972 lbs., YR 108, IMF 4.82, ratio 124, ribeye 14.5”, ratio 124.
Grandam Z156 produced until 19 years of age and was David’s favorite cow. She
was a tiny cow that always weaned a huge percentage of her body weight. She
ended her career with 14-95 BWR, 14-107 WR, and a 360 day calving interval (her
first progeny were not recorded in Doc Shinkle’s herd). Two daughters have achieved
Pathfinder status.

AI to Hoover Dam on 5-17-12. Pasture exposed to Hoover Emperor from 6-1-12 to
8-8-12. Ultrasound safe to Hoover Dam, due approximately February 23, 2013.
K30 was the 11
th
top weaning weight heifer of her crop, and raised by a 14 year-old
cow! She has more frame than most Reward heifers, and should be a perfect match
for Hoover Dam. She is long bodied, feminine, and has good rib and depth.
K30 is a maternal sister to the dam of last year’s “Magnificent Seven Flush” – the
flush that produced 7 registered progeny, 6 of which sold in our 2012 auction and
grossed $52,000. These flush brothers led-off our sale catalog, and the heifer from
the flush was the back cover feature heifer. The 7
th
flush mate was retained as a
replacement, and she is one of the best in the “keeper” pen.
Dam 227 has been a tremendous cow – she maintains a 360 day calving interval
on 13 progeny! Talk about fertility!! Her record of 13-113 WR is matched by very few
cows industry-wide. 227 is the 11
th
top indexing cow of the Hoover herd. I could talk
forever about her accomplishments and her daughters, but I think her record in the
previous sentences sums it up well.
Three of 227’s bull calves have been photo features in past sales. One bull was the
7
th
top weaning weight bull of his crop, selling to Steve & Tricia Kralik.

AI to Hoover Dam on 5-19-12. Pasture exposed to Hoover Emperor from 6-4-12

K234 is a bigger framed heifer that has extra length. She’s a stout made girl with
good depth. She excels as the 2
nd
high scanning IMF female of the crop! She is
the top Marbling EPD female to sell! Bred to Hoover Dam, her first calf has a lot of
potential, and look at its projected EPDs!
Pathfinder dam F321 produced one daughter for Calvin Schultz in Colorado, and
one daughter in our herd. F321 has a 361 day calving interval.
Great grandam Z156 was David’s favorite cow – please read about her tremendous
production and fertility in the bottom of lot 123 footnote.
