FALL BRED HEIFERS
Pasture exposed to Connealy Direct Deposit 11-12-12 on. Observed 12-29-12.
K442 is a deep ribbed heifer that is just what you would expect from dam B456!
K442 scanned the 2
nd
largest ribeye of the fall heifers selling!
A CC&7 daughter out of one of my favorite cow families! K442 should make a highly
productive, very gentle, beautifully uddered female. She comes highly recommended!
Dam B456 is a tame, pettable cow that doesn’t ever get in too much of a hurry. She is
really thick made and nice uddered. Better yet, she does just what cows are supposed
to do – raise a good calf on a regular calving interval. She has a 354 day interval.
B456’s first daughter serves as a Pathfinder donor cow for us. This cow is amazing
– four sons averaged $7875 at auction, and three excellent replacement daughters
work in the herd. One is the dam of featured Hoover Dam twins, lots 102 and 104!
Great grandam L913 has left a legacy in the Hoover herd. L913 and her 24 daughter
descendants have weaned a total of 138 non-ET progeny with an average 103 WR.
Eight Pathfinders are among the ranks of these great cows, and two more look to
have the qualifications to make the 2013 report! You can search America long and
hard to find cow families with this type of record and quality!
K442 has the #1 Docility EPD of all females selling today!

AI to Connealy Counselor on 11-27-12. Pasture exposed to Connealy Direct Deposit

K497 was the 5
th
top weaning weight heifer and 5
th
high yearling weight heifer of her
crop! A full sister to K497 has been retained as a replacement. This female was the
3
rd
high WW and 3
rd
high YW heifer of her crop!
Dam G461 is marching towards the goal of being one of the most elite cows of the
fall calving herd. Two maternal sisters serve as excellent cows also. One produced
the feature bull twins, lots 102 and 104.
G461 is the #2 $W Hoover-owned female, second only behind her dam D507. NO
proven dam in the Angus breed can match this mother-daughter duo for Docility and
$W – two of the most important considerations for cow-calf producers!
Pathfinder grandam D507 produced four sons in our 2012 auction (3 ET, 1 natural
calf) that all sold for $7000-10,000!
Read about great grandam B456 in the footnote of lot 195.
K497 has the 2
nd
highest $W among the fall heifers selling as well as one of the top
Docility EPDs!

K476 is a moderate framed, low birth, high growth female.
Dam’s first daughter, and full sister to K476, is a replacement in the herd raising her
first calf now.
G438’s ribeye scan of 12.0”, ratio 109 earned her a Ribeye EPD of +.91, way above
the top 1% of current dams! She is one of 63 Hoover-owned females with a Ribeye
EPD in or above the top 1% of the breed.
Grandam D400 is a typical, very pretty Gridiron daughter with excellent production.
Her first daughter was the 4
th
high weaning weight heifer of her crop, and sold to
repeat customer Michael Grimm. Her first son to come to auction was a photo
feature, as well as the 2
nd
high IMF bull of his crop. He sold to Camp Creek Farm &
Ranch. D400 has a 363 day calving interval.
A maternal sister to D400 scanned the biggest heifer ribeye ever recorded at Hoover
Angus – 18.4” on a yearling heifer! Breed average is currently 9.67”.

A Loving“Hoover Angus”Memory
In 2012 we said“Good-bye”to John’s long-
time employee and best friend Herman
Wilkes. Herman and Regena lived on the
original Hoover homestead where Walt and
Barb were both born.Their daughters Cathy
& Connie were both raised on this farm.
When John & Barb were gone on Angus
adventures, Joy and Judy stayed with
Herman, Regena, and the girls.Their house
made room for two more girls and the big
floor registers were intriguing and comfy.
John & Barb and Herman & Regena shared
good times and hard times. It was a tremendous relationship to this day.
Herman had a great sense of humor, and was always there for me as
I grew up. Herman and Regena came to our yearly sales as weather
permitted. Herman worked the back room and Regena & Barb shared that
“cup of coffee”in the sale barn cafe.
Daughter Cathy married Ken Schaefer. Ken & Cathy do not fail in working
at our sales. Cathy in the office and Ken in the back watering, bedding, and
moving cattle expertly. Ken spends Sunday prior to the sale hauling cattle to
Creston with our truck and trailer. They are help that can’t be replaced!
Happy Trails!
Joy
