The incredible combination of CC&7 mated to a Gridiron daughter has once again
risen to the top! Inspiration is moderate, big topped, wide based, deep ribbed, and
correct made. He is super laid back and uncharacteristically thick for an Angus bull.
Inspiration was so named because he is a refreshing change for the breed – he
offers the qualities of calving ease, high growth genetics with carcass merit in a
package that visually and structurally rises to the top. Astute cattleman Gary Wall
remarked when he saw this bull, “He is proof that high growth cattle don’t have to
look like water buffalo!”
Among non-parent bulls in the Angus breed with Inspiration’s accuracy, NO
positive Scrotal bull can beat him for his Docility, $W and $B!
When you combine Inspiration’s Docility and Ribeye EPDs along with accuracy,
there are only 12 non-parent bulls in the breed that can top his EPDs.
ALL 12
of these bulls have B/R New Design 036 in their 3-generation pedigree. Of these 12
bulls, only 6 are positive Scrotal bulls.
Inspiration is a gentle, laid back fellow that never gets in a hurry. This comes as no
surprise, with a Docility EPD above the top 1% of the breed, and a Docility score of
2 out of 100 on the 50K genomic profile.

Inspiration has the 2
nd
highest $W, the 2
nd
highest Ribeye EPD, the 2
nd
highest
Docility EPD and the 2
nd
highest $Beef Value among all animals in this offering! He
is the #1 $YG Value bull of the sale, and joins his full brother, Hoover CC&7 J18,
as one of the top 43 non-parent bulls of the Angus breed for $YG! This is proof of
high red meat yield – something Angus cattle are often accused of falling behind
other breeds.
Pathfinder donor dam C164 will be a cow that goes down in the Hoover history
books! Her most noted daughter to date is her $33,500 sale-topping daughter, H6,
that sold to KDS Angus in 2011. She is a full sister to Inspiration. H6 was the #1
adjusted weaning weight and #2 adjusted yearling weight heifer of her crop. Kevin
Sweeney of KDS Angus reports, “I cannot sing my praises of this cow enough. I
consider February 1, 2011 – the day I crossed paths with this cow – to be a very
historic day in my life.” In 2012, H6 flushed 12 grade 1 embryos, and all 12 of these
embryos resulted in pregnant recipients. 6 days after H6 was flushed, she settled AI.
H6 is a working donor, and has raised two excellent, heavy weaning weight heifer
calves. See H6’s picture on the following page.
4 of C164’s embryos (also full sibs to Inspiration) were sold in the 2012 National
Western Angus Foundation Female Sale and topped the embryo sale with a total
price tag of $9200 to KDS Angus!
Repeat customers Mike Archer, Cort Jaeschke, and Mike Carlson have selected
C164’s other progeny to come to auction, two of which were photo features.
C164 has a 365 day calving interval, that includes stealing flushes two different
years. Her picture above was taken when she was a wet 8 year-old. She is the 8
th
high ribeye ratio cow of the herd with 5-111 ribeye ratio. Two sons have averaged a
15.55” ribeye, 3 daughters a 12.13” ribeye! C164 is one of 63 Hoover-owned females
that rank in or above the top 1% of the breed for Ribeye EPD.
The day came when we had Myron Kennedy lined up to clip C164 to photograph her,
and just our luck, she was in heat. . . our schedules did not permit us to re-schedule,
so we went ahead as planned. For anyone who has ever worked with in heat cows,
you know it can sometimes be quite challenging! A testament to her very nice
temperament, C164 handled the clipping procedure and picture-taking very well!
A full sister to C164 is an outstanding cow that has served as a Hoover donor. Her
four progeny to come to auction have averaged over $10,000.
A full sister to Inspiration is going into the replacement herd and will calve in
February. Two very stout made flush sisters to Inspiration will also be retained.
Pathfinder grandam 9183 is one of a very few cows in the breed that has 3 Pathfinder
daughters to her honor! As an 11 year-old cow, she raised a 769 pound bull calf to
ratio 113.
8 Pathfinders are found in this pedigree, and it will tick up to 9 once CC&7 earns
the honor.
If you are looking for the next “Great One” from the Hoover program, here he is! 11 of
Inspiration’s EPDs and $Values rank in the top 1-5% of the breed.
Full brothers sell as lots 23-24.
