★
★
L18 is a bigger framed, long bodied, tight sheathed, flat topped bull with good
extension. Check out his EPDs!
★
★
Unfortunately L18 won’t be able to phenotypically express his full genetic potential,
as he has been subject to abuse by the other yearling bulls in the pen. From time to
time this past fall, they have found L18 as one of their favorite ones to pick on. This
won’t hurt his progeny a bit, but will certainly make him more of a bargain on sale day!
★
★
Dam H118 gets an A+ in my book! Her first son was the 8
th
top weaning weight bull
of his crop and sold to repeat customer Jeff Bellamy for $8000!
★
★
H118 has one of the shortest calving intervals in the herd at 327 days, and that will
get even better in 2013, as she is the first cow due to calve.
★
★
H118’s individual performance: BW 69 lbs., WW 700 lbs., WR 115, YW 972 lbs., YR
110, IMF 5.52, ratio 118, ribeye 11.1”, ratio 104.
★
★
H118 is the 16
th
generation Blueblood Lady Ellston female to call Ellston, Iowa home
at Hoover Angus. I wish I knew the number of herds in the nation that could say they
have females dating back 16 generations, because it would be very few! Several
years ago, research was done in the U.S. and found the average purebred Angus
herd had a lifespan of 7 years.
★
★
Pathfinder grandam B305 is one of my favorites. She has a 362 day calving interval,
and one of her daughters has already achieved Pathfinder status. This daughter
produced the excellent lot 15 bull.
★
★
B305 is an easy-going gal that always raises a great calf. Her 2012 calf was the
best Excitement bull calf of the crop and was lost to a clostridial-related problem
after weaning.
★
★
Both H118 and B305 tie with the 2
nd
highest WW EPD among cows in production at
Hoover Angus, with an EPD far surpassing the top 1% of the breed.
★
★
Use L18 on heifers for a couple years, then move him to your main herd sire position
without sacrificing growth!

★
★
A born leader, L8 defies the “no muscle” Angus stereotype. Wide stanced, lean red
meat, extra length and bone, and added frame, L8 is a hunk! An outcross pedigree
for customers that have used CC&7 and Gridiron, he should have been a photo
feature – our mistake is your benefit! He tied as the 15
th
top weaning weight bull of
the crop!
★
★
Although a bigger calf at birth, calving book notes say he was a vigorous calf at birth
and quickly nursed all 4 teats with no help.
★
★
Dam E508 is the 7
th
top indexing cow of the Hoover herd! She is a calm cow that
never gets excited.
★
★
A full sister to L8 works in the herd, and she is a very pretty and gentle female. She
was the 2
nd
high WW and 3
rd
high YW heifer of her crop!
★
★
A full brother to L8 was the 9
th
top weaning weight bull of his crop and sold to BC
Cattle Co. for $6750.
★
★
Grandam R159 earned Pathfinder status and recorded 9-114 WR! Pathfinder great
grandam L727 recorded 10-112 WR. Truly a great cow family!
★
★
Use L8 on cows to increase weaning weights and have calves that cattle feeders are
eager to pay premiums for!

L21 is really deep bodied like his mother. He is a correct made bull with good
thickness, shape and hip.
★
★
Pathfinder dam Z93 is still going strong at nearly 12 years of age! Her 359 day
calving interval is tremendous.
★
★
Z93 is a moderate framed, beautiful uddered cow that has low birth weight, high
growth calves – ideal for the beef industry! She has brought two photo feature
sons to auction. Progeny have been selected by Jim Norstad, Schroeder Angus,
Timberline Farm, and Carl Stephens.
★
★
Grandam F33 was a 1987 model cow and has left a tremendous set of daughters.
Over 20 daughter descendants have worked at Hoover Angus; 6 have earned
Pathfinder honors! Lots 11-16 trace to F33.
★
★
L21 is safe for use on heifers. I would highly recommend saving every daughter this
bull makes – they will be good uddered, highly productive, profitable females! L21
has the 5
th
lowest BW EPD among the yearling bulls selling.
