One of the best CC&7 sons of the crop! He offers a little more frame and a huge
scrotal. He is a smooth made, nice profile bull and still has plenty of depth and rib to
go along with his frame. He has plenty of top, hip, and shape.

A full brother to L12 sold to long-time repeat customer Glen Hanson in our 2010
auction for $9000. This guy was a tank, and weighed 2000 lbs. when he sold as a
two year-old.
★
★
A full sister to L12 is the 5
th
top indexing cow of the Hoover herd! Her two heifer
calves have averaged a 722 pound weaning weight! Another full sister to L12 is
going into the replacement herd and will calve in February.
★
★
Dam C2 is the 2
nd
high IMF ratio cow of the herd! Despite being a good carcass cow,
she hasn’t let fertility slip, as she records a 354 day calving interval.
★
★
C2 had excellent performance data: WW 737 lbs., WR 111, YW 1054 lbs., YR 110,
IMF 4.55, ratio 102, ribeye 13.2”, ratio 112!
★
★
Grandam, a Pathfinder, ended her career with 11-109WR! One of her daughters was
the first cow ever flushed at Hoover Angus. Two sons sold for $10,000 or more, which
is darn good for a 1993 model cow!

L125 is a long bodied dude with good hip, rib, and bone. He is a big scrotal bull and
has the 4
th
top Scrotal EPD of the yearling bulls selling!
★
★
A 7/8 brother to L125 was a featured Hoover Dam son in our 2012 auction, selling
to repeat customer Darrell Wagoner. Other maternal brothers to L125 have sold to
repeat customers Randy Miller and Steven Young.
★
★
Dam F388 has emerged as one of our best 2007 model cows. I only give her a
poor score in one area. . . her bull to female ratio is 4:0, and we have yet to get a
replacement daughter!
★
★
F388 was orphaned when we lost her dam to a rupture. That didn’t affect her ability
to be a great momma cow! A234 recorded 4-107 WR when we lost her.
★
★
Great grandam 9183 is the grandam of feature bull lot 22 and his brothers. Read
more about this tremendous cow family in his footnote.

Apples to apples, or apples to oranges?
All animals at Hoover Angus are treated similar. The top bull doesn’t
get a pen by himself, nor are there bulls being fed and fitted for show that
receive better nutrition than their contemporaries. All yearling bulls in this
sale are treated and managed in the same manner, by the same people,
and raised within a 5 mile radius of one another. When you look at each
division of bulls for sale in this catalog, all have been treated equally—
from birth until sale day. At Hoover Angus, the differences expressed in
the bulls should be genetic rather than environmental.
Why is this important? At Hoover Angus, you ARE comparing
apples to apples. Many sales offer cattle that have been raised in
cooperator herds in different locations or even different states, under
different management. Differences you see sale day may be genetic,
but may be environmental.
Rest assured at Hoover Angus Farm, you DO get what you see.
Every animal selling today was calved out by the same people. The
same people that calve the cows, weigh the cattle, and make the
breeding decisions are the ones making the culling decisions and
writing this catalog.
Hoover cows are like our extended family. We know which ones
are the best uddered, which sire’s daughters slick out in the summer,
and which ones are the easiest keeping. If you have a question about a
certain animal, please ask. If we can’t answer a specific question about
an animal, we can answer questions about the cow family—after all,
over 98% of the animals in this sale have been at Hoover Angus for 3
or more generations. Many of the cattle in this offering have withstood
our selection and culling for 10+ generations.
We have been in the rolling hills of southern Iowa for 157 years,
raising purebred Angus cattle for 85 years. The cow families and bulls
that rise to the top have earned their place at the top, and have not just
achieved it by chance.
Joy taken hostage in
the calf cart! I had
explicit instructions
to keep this photo out
of the catalog, but at
the last minute, I just
couldn’t resist!!
