The #2 weaning weight bull calf of the 2012 Hoover crop! He is a bigger framed
bull destined to add pounds of growth to a calf crop. When we tagged L113 as a
newborn, the man running the tagger noted, “Just give him a couple days, and he’ll
be ready for Hawkeye Breeders!” He has been a standout since he was little, offering
extra length, butt, and extension.
The Headliner calves are one of my favorite sire groups – they are uniform, big,
rugged bulls that will be at the top of the list for growth and value for commercial
cattlemen. They are large scrotal cattle, which not only helps in male fertility, but has
been shown to aid in the fertility of a bull’s daughters.
Dam D100 is a really soggy, pretty, ideal Angus cow. She maintains an excellent 364
day calving interval.
Two daughters of D100 work in the herd – one is a Pathfinder, the other has already
produced a $7000 son!
D100 is a moderate birth weight cow, with 6 calves averaging 72 pounds. I wouldn’t
use L113 on virgin heifers, but I wouldn’t expect him to sire large birth weight
calves. If you would compare him to other breeds – take for example Simmental – a
Simmental bull would need a -1.2 BW EPD to have as moderate birth weight calves
as L113. A -1.2 BW EPD Simmental bull would rank in the breed’s best 2% for this
trait. The moral of the story – if you would ever consider using a Simmental bull
on your cows without fear of calving difficulty, don’t fear using L113 on cows! He’ll
produce lighter birth weights than 98% of all Simmental bulls! By the same token,
a Hereford bull would need to rank in the best 10% of the breed to sire calves with
similar expected birth weights as L113.

Miss Keymura Ellston B92
A square made bull that is long, deep, has good rib, butt and shape. He offers a
different pedigree for customers that have used CC&7, Gridiron, Reward and
Excitement. He was a short gestation calf, coming 9 days early, which helped keep
his birth weight moderate.
A maternal brother to L199 was a photo feature Excitement son selling for $7000 to
KDS Angus in our 2012 auction.
Dam G352 does just what cows are supposed to do – have low birth weight calves
that get up, grow, and deliver higher than average weaning weights! She is a true
low birth weight cow.
G352’s individual performance data: BW 61 lbs., WW 609 lbs., WR 103, YW 926
lbs., YR 103, IMF 5.69, ratio 106, ribeye 11.3”, ratio 100.
Read about grandam D100, one of the prettiest cows in the herd, in the footnote of
her excellent 2012 bull calf, lot 45.
Recommended for large framed heifers or cows.

L114 is a really long bodied, tight sheathed, good topped bull. He was a short
gestation calf coming 9 days early, keeping his birth weight moderate.
He has a double dose of good disposition – dam C161 is a gentle cow, as typical of
the Famous daughters, and docility is CC&7’s most noted trait!
C161 has a 355 day calving interval, indicating exceptional fertility. She has a
beautiful udder. Sons have been selected by Chris Brown and Mike Fisher, and two
daughters have been retained.
Great grandam S130 was one of two Pathfinder daughters out of the good H20 cow.
Recommended for use on cows. His most defining characteristic will be his excellent
disposition.

A long bodied, tight sheathed bull. He’s a Hoover Dam son with a little different
pedigree on the bottom side.
J169 was a first calf heifer, and I’d say she did her job well! Titanic daughters are
nice, tight uddered females that have an average 102 WR on their progeny!
Read about grandam C161 in the footnote of lot 47.
Suitable for use on heifers? Of course!
