L3 is super wide based and really stout built! He has great muscle shape and butt.
Even better is his incredible disposition! L3 was the 6
th
heaviest adjusted weaning
weight bull of his crop at 851 pounds, and out of a heifer to boot!
L3’s dam got bred about two months before she was supposed to, and the mystery
of what bull bred her has not been solved. The only thing that has been solved is
that she did NOT get bred by one of our herd sires or AI sires, nor did she get bred
by the neighbor’s bull – they have all been excluded by DNA parentage testing. We
have narrowed the possible sires’ list down to a few less than 100 yearling bulls that
we sold in the spring of 2011. Is all I can say is this: someone bought a darn good
bull from us in 2011 if he can sire calves like L3!!
Dam J133 was a first calf heifer. She didn’t waste any time raising a darn good bull.
L3 was a good calf from day one, and he has stayed that way.
J133 had superior performance data herself: BW 76 lbs., WW 727 lbs., WR 119, YW
1042 lbs., YR 113, IMF 5.73, ratio 113, ribeye 10.8”, ratio 109. She was the 7
th
top
weaning weight and 8
th
top yearling weight heifer of her crop. Her WW, Ribeye, and
Docility EPDs are all in the top 1% of the breed!
Grandam E13 ties as the 13
th
top ribeye ratio cow of the Hoover herd with 3-109
ribeye ratio.
L3’s 3
rd
and 4
th
generation dams were tremendous producing cows that achieved
Pathfinder status.
Based on the DNA tests and the bull’s conformation and disposition, I would guess
L3 could have more than one shot of CC&7 in his pedigree. I would use him on
females without CC&7 blood. We recommend him for use on cows.

A super long bodied bull with good extension and a tick more frame size.
Dam V127 has been one of our best, and is one of the few cows in the herd to
have produced two Pathfinder daughters! One is the dam of Hoover herd sire H&K
Friction G290, the other is the grandam of herd sire Hoover Excitement K175. I’d say
these daughters are doing a phenomenal job! Read more about these two sires on
pages 9-10 of our herd sire directory.
V127 and her cow family are known for easy fleshing ability. V127 is the only cow
in the herd I have known to scan a rump fat ratio over 200. . . yes, she had over
double the rump fat of her contemporaries when scanned as a yearling heifer! We
joke about this cow family not ever being short of fat reserves in a cold winter! This
fleshing ability helps maintain good fertility – V127 has a 362 day calving interval
on 12 pregnancies!
Great grandam M127 was Landi’s first show heifer. 20 daughter descendants
have worked in the Hoover herd, including 5 Pathfinders and 2 donors! Registered
progeny sales from M127 and her cow family have grossed over $120,000 in recent
years. I could write a book about M127 and her accomplishments, but I don’t have
room, so I’ll suffice it to say they have been remarkable!
If you are looking for a Gridiron son to make exceptional daughters, look no further.
There is tremendous longevity, good udder quality, and powerful production history
in this cow family. Recommended for larger framed heifers or cows. 9 Pathfinders
are found in L228’s pedigree!

A younger bull, but there’s certainly nothing wrong with that! He is long bodied, good
ribbed, has nice extension and body.
Dam’s first calf was selected by Eddie Coyle in Kentucky. L289 was her second calf.
H267 had excellent performance data: BW 70 lbs., WW 685 lbs., WR 112, YW 975
lbs., YR 110.
Grandam E169 is a Pathfinder cow with a 352 day calving interval. A set of twins is
not included in her ratios above. All of her sons have sold to repeat customers: Kirk
Egbert, Nathaniel Jackson, Ron & LuAnne Brown, and Dale Adamson. Her only
daughter to-date is H267.
E169 also had good performance data: WW 719 lbs., WR 110, YW 1034 lbs., YR 111.
Please take time to read about the rest of his cow family, V127 and 4
th
generation
dam M127, in the footnote of lot 69. They have been an awesome cow family!
L289 will be just one day shy of being old enough to ultrasound prior to the sale, but
if the new owner sends him back to the farm for boarding, we will ultrasound him.
Recommended for use on cows.
