The 13
th
top weaning weight bull calf of the crop! A good footed, long bodied, tight
sheathed bull that is one of the many good Carbon Copy calves of the crop.
★
★
Carbon Copy’s dam is an extraordinary cow – three sons to come to auction have
averaged $9500, and she records 5-117 WR to make her the 2
nd
high indexing cow
of the entire Hoover herd! Her ET calves have been equally as successful as her
natural calves.
★
★
Dam D63 maintains a 356 day calving interval, even with one set of twins! She
has produced sons and daughters for Chris Cadle, Mike Bredemeier, Rod Hart, JW
Harding, and KDS Angus, all repeat customers. I know I’m getting tired of writing
footnotes when I mean to type “sons and daughters” and it comes out “dons” (I put
the “d” from “daughters” on the word “sons”).
★
★
The #1 $Weaned Calf Value ($W) animal of the offering, surging way above the top
1% of the breed! For the majority of Hoover Angus customers, I believe $W has
much more economic impact than $B. Read about the significance of $W on page
7. Use on large framed heifers or cows.

BLACKBIRD OF ELLSTON J91

Blackbird of Ellston D1
Blackbird of Ellston B85
★
★
A deep bodied bull that is square made. He is the result of breeding a heifer to
Headliner, and I’d say it worked well! We chose to breed J91 to Headliner because
she is the lowest BW EPD Hoover-owned female, and we thought it was a safe
combination.
★
★
A full brother to sire Headliner sells as lot 83, the #1 weaning weight bull calf of the
crop! Read more about his tremendous dam in his footnote. She is one of my all-
time favorite cows.
★
★
J91 has short ears and a short tail from being born in cold weather, but it didn’t slow
her up one bit! She raised over an 800 pound bull calf her first year!
★
★
This Blackbird cow family traces back 13 generations to Blackbird of Ellston 5, a
1949 model female who was by cornerstone Hoover herd sire, Revolutions Bell Boy,
the 1936 sire that Walt Hoover paid $300 for as a 3 month-old calf. I don’t know how
long Revolutions Bell Boy lived, but he was still siring natural calves at 12 years of
age! His influence is found in a large percentage of the females in production today.
★
★
Safe for use on heifers or cows. He has a tremendous, well-balanced set of EPDs.
Save daughters from this bull, they will be nice uddered females.

★
★
L286 is a wide based, deep bodied guy with lots of capacity.
★
★
Dam’s first calf was a heifer being retained in the Hoover herd, with her first calf
coming in February. L286 is her second calf.
★
★
H38 was a great scanning female with a 6.45 IMF, ratio 138, ribeye 11.0”, ratio 103.
★
★
H38 is a low birth weight, very nice uddered female with a gentle disposition.
★
★
Grandam D238 is a deep, stout, easy fleshing, beautiful uddered cow. The Fame cattle
were moderate and perfect uddered. She is a fertile cow with a 365 day calving interval.
★
★
Pathfinder great grandam T76 had a 360 day calving interval.
★
★
Backed by 3 generations of low birth weight cows, L286 would be suitable for use
on heifers or cows.

Charlie Leonhardt of Cowley,WY sent this photo of receiving his CC&7
son off the truck after purchasing him sight unseen. After the first breeding
season was complete, Charlie reported that his bull is very gentle and put
weight back on faster after breeding season than any bull he has ever had.
