This bull was weaned off at 50% off of an 11-year-old cow! The old Wye Plantation had a contest within
its cow herd of what cow could produce the most pounds of weaned calf, 5342 Exacta cow is probably
leading our contest here. She’s produced around 6,000 lbs of weaned calf at a calving interval of 355
days. One of the most profitable cows on the place. Have calved out a maternal sister, she’s going to
make a good cow.

We sampled a Red Angus bull that was said to be the positive outlier at Crump Red Angus. Norseman
4107 is a bull with a lot of growth, and also carries some birthweight. Using him as an outcross to achieve
some heterosis was our plan here, it’s evident that it worked. 096 cow weaned this half-blood off at 48%
at an interval of 386 days. A maternal brother to this bull resides in Kansas, they’re getting calves out of
him and are pleased.
