When you consider the numbers behind your cows – our ideal size, highest efficiency at weaning cows are
out of bulls with numbers in the range of 30’s WW and 60’s YW. The breed leading growth bulls are twice that
now. To continue using high growth bulls to make replacements for our cow herds is very foolish. This does
show a place in the Industry for a systems approach to meet the need of all segments and possibly be the most
profitable. A systems approach would use specific proven bulls to make replacement females and growth bulls
to maximize calf weights. This explains why we are offering mostly “Bulls that make Cows that make Profit” but
we will still offer a few bulls to be used to produce a terminal product. That also leads us into offering some half-
blood Simm/Angus bulls next year to add some Continental characteristics plus some heterosis to your calves.
