Summit Farms is a progressive commercial and registered cattle opera-
tion with locations in Springview, Neb. and Alden, Iowa. They raise
both Red Angus and Charolais cattle. Annually, they feed approxi-
mately 20,000 head at their Alden, Iowa operation. The heifers we are
selling were sourced in large groups from Cross Diamond customers,
reputable Red Angus breeders and Red Angus replacement female sales
in SD and NE. The heifers are individually identified and have been
handled both horseback and on foot. They are easy to be around and
will make a great set of replacement females. They will be sorted in to
a uniform group of red baldy and brockle commercial heifers.

While we at Horsley Red Angus have been customers of Cross Dia-
mond for several years, we feel very honored that Scott and Kim have
asked us to consign a group of commercial heifers right from the heart
of our replacement pasture to this year’s sale. Many of these commer-
cial cow prospects are progeny of genetics we have purchased from
Cross Diamond in the past. Our experience with the genetics from
Cross Diamond is they produce cattle that possess input efficiencies
that allow those cattle to “do more with less”. This has been a very im-
portant trait for us in building an efficient cow herd. These heifers are
3/4 Red Angus, 1/4 Simmental, straight red heifers.

Glen Summers, Platte River Ranch has been a Cross Diamond and
Solid Rock bull customer since 2011. In this time, he has made solid
genetic investments in both his bull battery and in his commercial
cowherd. Dams of this group of calves were purchased from Paxton
Ranch, Neb. and JPWerner, Wyo. These heifers are all tagged with the
Red Angus Feeder Calf Certification Program tag, and are eligible for
the Red Angus Pro-Cow tags. This is a fancy group of heifers who are
gentle to work with and ready to prove their value as replacement fe-
males.
