Starting with 1100, he probably excels in all the traits needed to make
a sustainable cow herd. He’s a calving ease 46P son, that offers
moderate growth and a minus mature weight. 1100 has moderate
growth numbers but his progeny still perform as well, if not better
than bulls with higher growth numbers. Reid visited Cole Creek
and was very impressed with how many of Greg Golden’s cows
performed in a low-cost environment. Greg’s management might
be one of the most rigorously tested cow herds in the pure-bred
sector, he ensures that they’ll fail there before they’ll ever fail for his
customers. We’re calving our first 1100 daughters now and believe
he is going to make those moderate sized cows we all dream of.
The daughters are feminine, sound and have the phenotype to
survive. (Genotype + Environment = Phenotype) 1100 carries a huge
spread between his mature and carcass weights, a 48 point spread,
a -30 MW and +18 CW.

048 cow is an 8385 daughter out of our best D806 cow, she has proven to be a top cow here. She went
through the drought of ’12 as a first calf heifer with no supplement and has had the ability to stay on the
front end. This well made 1100 son has the ability to sire progeny that will show Grit like that at Cole
Creek and Blackrose. She birthed this calf 378 days after her last and weaned him off at 43%. Scrotal
circumference of 37cm, talk about early maturing daughters!
