Welcome to our 9th Annual Cross Diamond sale. What a time in the cattle
industry! Many areas are experiencing better rain and weather than in past
years. This, along with good cattle markets, is bringing optimism and excite-
ment to our business. Let’s all just mind our “p’s” and “q’s”-- treat our land
and cattle with care; treat people in the same manner; give glory where it’s due
and make good use of the gifts we’re given.
For some in our industry, this time in history is the culmination of a life in
ranching; for some this is a great boost in a plan to remain in the business of
beef production; for some this is a call to join the business of raising beef.
Wherever we fall in the scenario, planning and forethought is required to ful-
fill the goal.
Johanna got a great lesson in planning this summer as she worked on her
sometimes wily 4-H calves, often by herself. After regailing us with a stories
of stalking one errant steer through the barn, around the yard and back to the
corral, she shared the main point in her yearly 4-H story, “If you want things
to go right, then you have to have the gates set right.” A good lesson for all
of us.
Marie is quite a help by cleaning and inventing things around the house, as
well as pitching in with cattle chores. She is having a great year in 2nd grade
and is looking forward to starting “real” 4-H. (With a January birthday, she
missed the age cut-off by just 17 days this year.) So she’ll spend another year
looking making plans and doing fun Clover Kid activities.
We’ve enjoyed many great gifts this past year. We give glory and thanks to
our Heavenly Father for these wonderful gifts-- family, friends, the cattle, the
land and the rain-- to name a few. We know that even through times of
adversity, we are richly blessed.
This year’s sale offering is second-to-none. You will find a great selection of
bulls and commercial females to cover a variety of needs. Most importantly,
we think you’ll find that the breeding in this sale offering brings balance. You
won’t need to sacrifice one trait to get another. In the pursuit of balance, you
may find that the addition of the profit indices may help. The HerdBuilder
and GridMaster indices take in to account many factors that affect profitabili-
ty in a program. These indices are included in the catalog as “HB” and
“GM.”
Thank you for your interest in our sale and in the Red Angus breed. By
whatever route brought you here, we’re glad to have you! We hope to go for-
ward, setting our gates and planning for a bright future in the cattle industry!

"Our mission is to respect God and His blessings of the land, livestock and people
who touch our lives and, through stewardship and service, to care for these blessings
as we provide genetics and services to our customers while raising high quality beef."
