Dear Fellow Cattlemen,
Today the most business minded seedstock producers are beginning to focus their breeding pro-
grams around the one thing that will keep their customers in business—Gross Profit.
In the past, progressive breeders concentrated on weighing and measuring more and more traits
because they knew that when used properly, they would add to their customer’s bottom line. The
problem was that it had become nearly impossible to sort through all of these numbers and deter-
mine each bull’s true ability to keep a customer in business.
$Profit Share is a system developed by Lee Leachman that specifically addresses this problem.
It is centered on the development of a weighted financial index that takes into account the above
mentioned traits, assigns a real world dollar value to each trait and then arrives at ONE collective
number that you can accurately use to increase the profitability in your operation. $Profit Share
uniquely accounts for both the genetic cost side as well as the production side of ranch account-
ing. No other index incorporates cow feed efficiency in their equations (not all smaller cows eat
less and not all bigger cows eat more).
I have known the Janssen Family for many years. No one cares more about their customer’s
success than they do. They are genuinely good commercial cattlemen first and seedstock suppli-
ers second. Not surprisingly, they have been some of the first to join $Profit Share because they
understand that it is all about keeping their customer’s business profitable.
As their customer, you will inherit their forward thinking efforts and insight through the efficien-
cies and productivity of these bulls. The difference between being a good average cattleman and
one that focuses on $Profitability, may very well be the difference between red ink and black ink
over the next few years.
Best Regards,
Gary Rolland
“I began working with the Janssen family when they were solely commercial producers, their
focus hasn’t changed. The goal of producing lower input cattle while attempting to maximize out-
put remains. $Profit indexes will help them (and you) accelerate those goals faster than anything
else available in today’s market.”

“The 2016 data on the Janssen family’s commercial steers ex-
ceeds industry averages… by a bunch! With a focus on the traits
most profitable (Feed efficiency, HCW, and premium Choice)
they are moving their mean dramatically. As a customer of
theirs you are inheriting that progress.”
