A note about DNA
We DNA tested the Angus bulls this year. The results will be
reflected in each bulls’ EPDs. DNA is like any other tool—
just keep everything in perspective on how you use it. We
are trying it to, hopefully, present to you with the most cur-
rent data to level environmental differences. Because of
our large embryo program, cooperator herds, etc., environ-
ment can play a large role in actual weaning and yearling
weights.
The Charolais database is not yet current for good DNA
evaluation in our opinion only! The Charolais bulls were
scanned, the Angus were not, so actual scan data will not
appear on the Angus bulls this year.
Update on Developmental Duplication (DD)
‘DD’ is a genetic condition that is being monitored by the
American Angus Association. We have marked bulls as DDP
(DD potential) directly after their registration number. All
DD animals can be registered with the American Angus
Association. Again, if you have any questions, call us.
W
hat is the value to a Fink Beef Genetics Customer?
Increased GE EPD accuracy on young unproven animals result in greater selection
confidence in Fink Bulls
Herd sire candidates from Embryo Transfer have individual EPDs and accuracies
resulting in greater selection confidence to identify the right sires for the right ranch
Greater predictive power in maternal and efficiency traits that otherwise take years
to compile in EPDs
