Dear Friends and Customers,
Again we would like to invite you to be with
us Sunday, February 3rd, 2013 for our 38th
Annual production sale at Frey Angus Ranch.
We will be offering 16 Angus and Red Angus
yearling bulls and 64 registered yearling
Angus heifer. These cattle offer the top blood
lines in their respective breeds and will add
pounds and dollars to your calf crop. They
represent reliable calving ease with 70% of
the offering identified as calving ease bulls.
The bulls have been developed on a high
roughage ration with complete performance and carcass information. The average birth weight is 78 pounds as a
result of selection for shorter gestation. The average weaning weight is 745 pounds and their average daily since
weaning was 3.1 pounds for an average projected yearling weight of 1243 pounds.
The EPD’s provided in this catalog were the most current provided by the breed associations with the average birth
EPD’s for the Angus bulls at +2.8, average weaning weight EPD of +56, average yearling EPD of +104, average
milk EPD of +26, average marbling EPD of +.39 and average rib eye EPD of +.42. The average dollar beef value is
+$68. An average FAR bull significantly exceeds breed average. All Angus cattle are AM, NH, and CA free by test
or pedigree. A total of 8 sons of Vermilion X Factor and 13 daughters are carriers of the MI (double muscle) gene
and identified as such. In addition to DNA testing for genetic defects, all of the cattle selling will be out of cows
testing negative for Johne’s Disease.
The Red Angus bulls perform equally as well as the Angus bulls with equally impressive growth and maternal traits.
The Angus heifers offer a similar EPD profile as the bulls with an average weaning weight of 607 pounds. They have
an average daily gain of 2.18 pounds since weaning with a projected average yearling weight of 956 pounds.
We are extremely proud of this set of cattle and the cowherd behind them that continues to be aggressively called
to insure the best in genetics that we can possibly provide.
