Speaking of Columbias
Do you have questions about the best
ways to prepare your sheep for shows?
Perhaps you have several years of
fitting experience, but would like some
tips to hone your skills. Once again, this
year there will be a fitting workshop
featuring an outstanding Columbia
fitter.
This year’s featured fitter is Weston
Borcher from Powell, WY. He and his
family raise Columbias, Hampshires,
Natural Coloreds, and Rambouillets. In
addition to consigning quality sheep at
the national level, Weston likes to have
his sheep looking show ready when they
get off the trailer before final touch ups.
The format of the workshop is
changing this year to a clinic format.
We have watched three outstanding
fitters demonstrate how to cutout a
sheep the past three years. This year,
Weston is going to give individualized
advice and demonstrate techniques
on the exhibitor’s sheep. This will
give exhibitors a chance to try
skills themselves under the watch
of an experienced eye. If the barn
arrangement allows, we may have
interested exhibitors gather their
trimming stands in one area. If not,
