BODINE’S 9TH AVE. CATTLE COMPANY
2ND ANNUAL PRODUCTION SALE
WELCOME TO BODINE’S 9TH AVE CATTLE COMPANY’S
2nd Annual Production Sale!
It has been a year of change here on the ranch. Robert is now legally driving, Payton has developed a
work ethic instead of keep you company while you work ethic, and Madison has all but vanished. Madison
was elected ND FFA State Secretary in June. With her responsibilities of being a FFA officer and being a
freshman at NSDU she has been extremely busy. We are very proud parents but sure miss her company as
well as her help and input with the cow herd.
Another change from last year, is central North Dakota is having a real “old school”winter. Since December
1st, we’ve had 60+ inches of snow and many below average temperatures. Winters like this are a
great reminder as to why we love the Salers breed. The strong maternal instinct, calf vigor, and docile
dispositions exhibited by our Salers prove invaluable when calving in our environment. Whether following
the calf sled back to the barn or getting her calf up and going on a subzero night, our Salers females get
the job done. We like to tell people “using Salers bulls is just like hiring an extra man for calving season.”
We are very pleased with the development and performance of this set of bulls. The bulls have been fed a
high fiber pellet and alfalfa brome grass hay. We develop the bulls in a 25 acre pasture. Even with the large
amount of snow, the bulls are often seen in the evenings rough housing on the west hill. The room to play
gives us the confidence that we will deliver a bull who is harden and ready to cover cows. We will have
actual scrotal measurements available on sale day. Heifers have been pail fed the same high fiber pellet
and alfalfa brome hay.
Videos of the cattle will be on DVAuction prior to sale date.
Please feel free to stop by the Ranch or call anytime!
