Sometimes we are forced to over think the cattle business
because of the multitude of cattle media and information we
receive every day. We try not to forget the basics: “Raise trouble
free cattle that calve easy and produce a big calf.” Sounds
pretty simple but “raising trouble free cattle” encompasses a
large number of factors. One of those factors, at Molitor Angus,
we have a reputation for having gentle and easy handling cattle.
Environmental conditions may contribute to these traits as we try
to handle our cattle with the least amount of stress as possible
with a minimum number of times through the chute. Docility
genetics play a role but we still must choose genetics that
produce vigorous calves at birth for greater survival rates under
adverse weather conditions.
