BULL WINTERING PROGRAM
We will be offering wintering arrangements on bull calves purchased in this sale.
For $300 per head we will winter the bull calves until May 1, 2015. These bull
calves will be ultrasound scanned for carcass and are guaranteed breeders, but
because of their age they have not been semen tested yet. Bull calves left with
us for the winter will pass a complete breeding soundness evaluation including
a semen test prior to pick up. We suggest if you leave the bull calves with us to
winter you take out a mortality insurance policy which will be available sale day.

Dear Cattlemen:
Welcome to our 40th Annual Profit Makers Sale. The entire crew at Cottonwood has been
committed for over 50 years to producing seed stock with our commercial customers and
fellow purebred breeders in mind. Ultimately producing cattle that improve the genetic base
that influences the nations cow herds. We want our cattle to produce a profitable product
from conception to an end product that has consumers acceptance with a tender, tasteful
eating experience.
This event will include a tremendous set of cattle that have been raised in a practical manner.
Having a balance of phenotype, structural correctness, solid performance, progressive EPD
profiles, along with time tested proven genetics. The bull calves possess a balanced profile of traits to keep our customers in the
forefront of our industry. The group of bred females selling has proven themselves in the breeding pasture. Check out the big stout
calves along their side that are also selling. A first this year, we are also selling some young cows that normally would not be sold
that will have April 2015 calves coming and are only selling due to the fact we will be calving more cows in February. Our bred
heifers show more balance and uniformity than ever before. This set of young females along with their fresh genetics and solid
progressive EPD profiles are bred to some of the best new young breed changing AI sires – we feel confident they should impact
any progressive program. Also selling is a group of black/white face bred heifers. We have purchased the same heifers from Edgar
Brothers the past 18 years and everyone that has purchased them have been back for more.
It’s been a challenging yet rewarding year here at Cottonwood. In February we were awarded the Stock Producer of the Year at
the 2014 Black Hills Stock Show. In August we received another great honor, the 2014 Farm Family of the Year from the University
of Minnesota.
We welcome visitors to Cottonwood Angus anytime throughout the year and always enjoy showing the genetics of our program to
fellow breeders. Each and every year we strive harder to produce higher quality genetics. Don’t forget our annual bull sale which
will be in April at the Phillip Livestock Market in Phillip, South Dakota. The bull sale continues to grow with bulls selling to some of
the most successful cowherds in the western Dakotas.
We are dedicated to producing cattle that will have a positive impact on the industry and feel confident that the cattle represented
exemplify the direction we want to head.
I would like to say thanks to Tom Lillibridge and Dwight Pepper for letting us become a partner in Ponca Creek Pepper. Check out
his great genetic profile with his unmatched EPD’s and dollar values. But most important, the tremendous balance, fleshing ability,
docility, and soundness of structure along with a great foot. His dam and granddam are both pathfinders that are some of the elite
producers of the breed. We are looking for great results from Pepper.
