The Collier Farms Performance Bull Test
….
During the narration on the video, before the sale, and when things really get moving through the ring at sale time, you will hear a
lot of talk about the bull test and ratios. Since the start of the Collier Farms Performance Bull Sale we have subjected all the bulls in
the sale to a 300+ day period of group development and testing. Each year the test starts in early January and runs through the end
of September, with the final development running up to sale day. This forage based test starts with a winter oat pasture gain test
and ends with a supplement test on summer Bermuda grass pasture. Bulls are measured for weight per day of age (WDA), average
daily gain (ADG) and ultrasound scanned for carcass merit. To make the test as balanced as possible, a set of professional cattlemen
visually grade the bulls for conformation, disposition, and fleshing ability. All of the test results are put into ratio form and calculated
through a set formula to arrive at the most objective bull grading method in the industry. Collier Farms doesn’t decide where a bull
ranks or sells, the bull and his performance does!

At Collier Farms, we understand that our success is based on your satisfaction. In attempt to do everything possible to secure that,
we have subjected the bulls to full breeding soundness evaluations (BSE), Trich tested, and feet and leg evaluations by our herd
veterinarian. Above all that, we fully guarantee the bull for 180 days.

Collier Farms has been a leader in the local, state and regional cow-calf production and seedstock industries with their progressive
attitude and embracement of preventativemedicine. The cattle offered have benefited froma herd bio-security, disease surveillance,
and vaccination program designed to protect the calves once they are in the cow, and continue while they are productive cows and
bulls. The bulls listed have all been rigorously evaluated for fertility with standards that meet or exceed those set by the Society for

Welcome to the 2017 Collier Farms
Performance Bull Sale !
This year marks a great milestone for the program as we host the 10th
Anniversary of the Collier Farms Performance Bull Sale. We started out in 2008
with the goal of creating a bull offering composed of the most selective and
performance proven cattle available within the breed. From the beginning, we
mandated that the bulls be developed in a forage based program and remain
on pasture during the entire development phase. It was also critical that the
bulls be tested against each other in both fall and spring born contemporary groups, so that buyers could accurately compare
bull performance on an equal playing field. Additionally, we recognized the value of ranking and selling the bulls utilizing an
objective formula which would accurately value the various test measurements and provide a numerical score representing buyer
preferences.
Since the first test and sale, we have gone on to increase entry requirements and selection criteria. Advantage producers have been
invited in which create a wider genepool from which to choose and improve the overall quality of the offering while staying true
to the Collier Farms ideals of cattle breeding. Now, 10 years later, cattlemen have the opportunity to select from one of the most
stringent performance tested bull groups in the beef industry. Bulls offered today are more uniform in color and phenotype, have
more performance data, provide greater marketing opportunities to owners, and are backed up by generations of proven pedigreed
genetics. We have avoided the temptation to chase fads and extremes and instead focus on producing sound, functional, maternal
cattle with the OPTIMAL balance of economic traits.
It has been a true priveledge to be involved in such a great breed of cattle over the years and to earn the loyalty and friendship of so
many. With new technologies on the horizon and our relentless DRIVE for constant improvment, Collier Farms will be dedicated to
the challenge of producing the best bulls available to the industry and look forward to the possibilities of the next 10 years.
