Commercial Bred Heifers
232-241
Paul Friborg of Clearbook has brought us a set of 10 fancy, feminine, commercial Angus bred heifers. Paul has been buying
bulls from Wilde Angus since 2003. These heifers are sired by Wilde Angus bulls that blend maternal strength, performance and
carcass traits into well-balanced heifers that should raise some good feeder calves or replacements. This group of heifers has
had 4 rounds of vaccinations including Ultrabac 8, Virashield and have been poured 4 times. The bull Wilde’s 104 Potter 4124 has
a BW EPD of +1.2 and he was turned in on June 14 and was pulled approximately September 14. The first heifer should calve
about the 23 of March. These heifers should bring in a big calf this fall and be an asset to anyone’s cow herd.

The John Gilbertson family has 55 bred heifers that were purchased from Roy Gross as open heifer calves. These heifers are
sired by some of the top bulls that we have bred and raised over the years as the Gross’ have always purchased the best we
have to offer. This spring these heifers were Bangs vaccinated, given Bovi-Shield Gold 5 FP VL5, Vision 8, a pinkeye and hoof rot
vaccination. The heifers were synchronized for June 24 and then the bulls were let loose including the proven calving ease sire
HAF In Focus 901 who has a CED EPD of +20 and a BW EPD of -5.3 ranking him in the top 1% of the breed for both. Another
sire was the CSA Pendelton 1044 that we have used here at Wilde Angus and he has a CED EPD of +10. There was also a son
of the calving ease sire Cashin Focus 81 out of a SAV 8180 Traveler 004 daughter and the last bull was A Southern Predestined
8865 son out of a Leachman Right Time and GDAR Forever Lady 98 daughter with BW EPD of +1.7. The bulls were left in for a
90 day breeding season and in August they were given another shot of Vision 8. On January 17 the heifers were given their first
round of Scourguard 4KC, they were also boosted with Vision 8 again and they were poured and given Valbazen. These heifers
should make some great mothers and bring in some heavy calves this fall and for years to come.
