Commercial Bred Heifers
162-181
The Lewis Ranch of Bagley has brought another set of 20 commercial Angus bred heifers to us that have been sired by
predominantly Wilde Angus bull over the last several years. These heifers we synchronized and bred June 6, 7, 8 to the Genex
calving ease sire Wilde’s Armor 6210 and then a couple of Wilde Angus bulls were turned in to clean them up June 20 through
July 25. The heifers had an ultrasound done by Dr. Bethany Funnell of the University of Minnesota Grand Rapids on August 21.
Ten or eleven of the heifers were confirmed to be bred AI and the other nine or ten are pasture bred and should be done by the
April 27. Last spring these heifers had Bovi-sheild Gold FP 5 VL5 HB, 8-way and were wormed. This fall these heifers were given
another 8-way, poured and given their first shot of Scourguard 4KC. These heifers will be given their second shot of Scourguard
4KC prior to the sale. This group of heifers has been Bangs vaccinated and will be ready to go. Again the Lewis Ranch has a great
set of heifers whose dams are some of the top producing in the area and these heifers should go on to produce some heavy steer
calves or great replacement females.

The Ramsrud brothers have brought us another set of powerful bred heifers that are predominately Angus based. Doug and David
have been buying bulls from Wilde Angus for the last 10 years and these 25 heifers are from the top pick of their herd. They are
selected for maternal traits, good temperaments and performance. Two bulls were turned in June 10 and were left in there until
September 10. One bull was a Cashin Focus 81 son out of the donor dam Basin Trojan Erica F736 with a BW EPD of -.4 and a
CED EPD of +13. The other bull that bred these heifers was a WAR Alliance 9126 6006 son out of the Leachman Right Time and
GDAR Forever Lady 98 daughter with a BW EPD of +0. These heifers are on a complete vaccination program administer by Dr.
John Rolfson and he also has pregnancy checked these heifers and they were given their first Scourbos 9 vaccination. Prior to
the sale the heifers will have received their booster shot of Scourbos 4 and will have been poured with Cydectin wormer. This is
a well bred set of heifers that should make great mothers and calve easy.
