SydGen Jaguar 2208
Birth Date: 1-27-2012
Bull 17212852
Tattoo: 2208
This calf was one of the better calves early on, but got behind during the heat
stress. He seems to be coming back, so we’ll see if he makes it for the sale.
Note he is in the top 10% for $B, and out of a solid-producing cow.
Maternal brothers have brought $5,500 to Malone Supreme Angus, Arkadelphia,
AR, $3,500 to Amonett Farms, Byrdstown, TN, and $3,100 to Patton Family Farm,
Bosworth, MO.

SydGen New Look 2025
Birth Date: 1-3-2012
Bull +17244196
Tattoo: 2025
The result of some frozen embryos Greiner Angus had from the mating that pro-
duced the dam of Liberty as well as the bull featured as Lot 76.
Unfortunately, this is the only calf resulting, and he was very unlucky on his recip
draw.
His recipient dam weaned a 70 ratio calf last year, so she is fairly consistent.
Donor dam was purchased by Greiner as the $15,000 top-selling spring calver in
our 2003 sale, and is also the dam of SydGen Rocky Road 2060 and the $10,500
SydGen On the Mark, along with daughters at $8,500 and $5,500.

Cowboy Logic #18
One of the toughest decisions we make each year is determining
which genetic values and what performance data should be printed
in the sale book. Our preference is to print the data most breeders
use in their selection decisions, and that is what we believe we have
included. We also prefer to condense the data as much as possible,
so the information is easier to read and quicker to comprehend when
one is making decisions at the pace of an auction sale. Meanwhile,
all registration numbers are provided here, and every EPD and bio-
economic index is available to you on the EPD/Pedigree Lookup page
at
Cowboy Logic #49
Although there is actually a strong choice-select price spread at this
point, some have taken the relative weakness over the past couple
of years as an indication of less demand for quality beef. However,
the premiums for Prime and CAB qualified carcasses have remained
steady to higher. Could this mean that low Choice is regarded now
as not much different than Select (especially with so many branded
programs “creaming the coolers”), and “the bar” is actually shifting
higher?
These are last
year’s results
from his herd,
fed at Irsik &
Doll, and
processed at
USPB:
Mike Kasten, commercial producer from Millersville, MO, speaking at the
2011
ARSBC, Joplin, MO, made these three points about commercial beef
cattle production:
The only aspect of a cattle operation that we as producers have total control
over is genetics.
Using highly proven genetics is a great risk management tool.
Fixed time AI breeding protocols have made AI easier, cheaper and more
efficient than ever before.
