For this special anniversary sale, you have the opportunity to “Create the Next Great One.” We are
offering the right to flush any cow in the herd to the bull of the buyer’s choice. We will guarantee eight
transferable embryos. If more than eight are produced, the buyer has the option of purchasing any or all
additional embryos at the pro-rata price. If fewer than eight are produced, buyer can opt to try the same
cow again, or switch to a different cow.
Buyer is responsible for supplying semen to use for the flush.
Cows available for this flush opportunity include any calved female owned 100% by SydGen. Partnership females would only be
available if the partner agrees. Buyer has up to 12 months to choose the female and the mating, but 50% of the bid price is due on
sale day, with the remaining 50% due at the time of the successful flush.
We also guarantee 50% conception if the eggs are implanted by an AETA-certified technician.

Our strong suit has long been the production of breed-leading herd sires, bulls that
generate multi-trait excellence for a balance of economically-relevant traits as
proven by National Cattle Evaluation, along with sound structure and phenotype.
Our female sales have usually not generated the same excitement as the bull divi-
sion. Thinking back over the last few years, the high-selling females of the breed
have been mostly high $B cows and those who excel for Marbling and REA, as
these single-trait lists were easy to access, to seek out the extremes in the female
population.
A recent addition to member log-on on the Angus website is the ability to search
the entire database of proven and non-parent females for any trait or combination
of traits, much like we have long been able to sort the sire summary.
Just after the July NCE was released, we went into that database of proven dams,
and, using some percentile breaks that seemed sensible to create multi-trait excel-
lence in a breeding female, pulled up a list that was narrowed down from 325,000
current dams to only 38 who fit those specifications, and were very pleased to see
that 22 of those carried the SydGen prefix! Some of those females sold as heifers
and bred heifers through this event, and the others are available to you in this pick
of the herd flush.
The criteria used for that particular sort was: top 5% $B; top 20% for WW, YW,
Docility, Heifer Pregnancy, Marbling and $W; top 50% for Scrotal and REA EPDs.
Since EPDs change weekly, any sort will change from week to week. Re-sorting on
September 4, 2012 gives us 48 proven dams, and 25 carry the SydGen prefix.
Any member of the Association can access this feature and sort to whatever levels
you think are important for your herd, and we encourage you to do so. In the future,
we hope to have more fertility and longevity type traits to be able to select for.
It is also important to keep in mind that structural soundness is not yet a measur-
able trait, and that analysis still must be done by visual appraisal.
Meanwhile, this Lot One Flush, and this entire sale offering, gives you the oppor-
tunity to add multi-trait excellence to your herd from the male or the female side,
from a program that is both dynamic and time-tested.
