Snow Creek Angus Ranch
ONE OF THE BREED’S TOP CARCASS PROGRAMS COMES TO A CLOSE!
AVERAGE %IMF AND UREA MEASUREMENTS FOR THE PAST TEN YEARS
Welcome to the Complete and Total Dispersal of the Snow Creek Angus Ranch Program.
This truly is one of the great genetic opportunities there has been to select cattle that have been engineered for the last 14
years with quality in mind!
Doc and Glenda have stressed in all of their mating decisions to increase %IMF scores, as well as UREA scores, and when
you study the EPD profile of all the cattle selling it is evident that their dedicated approach to breeding cattle that fit the demand
of their niche meat market has worked well. In fact, a high majority of the cattle selling in this sale will rank in the top 10% of
the breed for $B value with several of these individuals ranking among the breed’s very best for $B! They have also stressed the
need for functional, easy fleshing cattle that are high maternal and have proven that a program can have it all.
As you begin studying the cattle that are selling and the genetics represented I would ask that you keep the following items
in mind:
1.The final decision to disperse this cow herd was made in June of 2013 due to personal health issues. Therefore the cows
were bred with the intention of the SCAR program continuing.
2.With the number of embryos that were implanted this spring and due to the time constraint of completing this sale book
the pregnancies could not be confirmed; however, confirmation of the spring pregnancies will be completed prior to sale
day and all of that information will be available. The recipient dams for the spring pregnancies with the exception of two
head were all registered: therefore, those recipient females are also listed in this sale book behind each mating so that on
sale day you can see the registered recipient’s pedigree if the pregnancy is confirmed and then if the recipient is deter-
mined to be bull bred, all of the information is listed for your review.
3.In regard to the fall pregnancies: they were not all preg checked and confirmed to calve to their due date. Some of them
were and those will be identified sale day. Those that were not confirmed will have a pedigree available sale day with their
breeding information available.
4.The %IMF and UREA scores on the majority of the females selling are listed for your review. I would suggest that you
study and compare the SCAR data to breed averages to see just how far ahead and how dedicated Doc and Glenda have
been in producing cattle that excel for these traits.
It is a pleasure to be working with these fine folks as they close the SCAR program. This herd has been somewhat closed
for the past 14 years, creating a rare opportunity. In my opinion this is an opportunity for the most stringent Angus breeders
to select genetics that will add value to your program or for new Angus enthusiasts looking for a source of genetics that are
already near the top of the entire breed for end product merit - The SCAR cow herd will work. As you study the sale book and if
you have any questions, feel free to give me a call at 918-510-3464 or call Doc and Glenda as they are ready to visit about their
program any time. We look forward to seeing you in Springfield, MO on Monday, Labor Day, for this exciting event.
Sincerely,
Rance Long
