Welcome Folks…
Welcome to our 10th anniversary of the Red Alliance program. We have
held 12 sales in this 10 year period since the program was originally founded
and we are convinced more than ever that we are on the right path.
Those of us that live in the Central Plains States have endured more than our
fair share of drought the past few years. Cow numbers are at historically low
levels and calf prices are high and will get higher as supplies continue to
dwindle. Those farmers and ranchers that have been able to hang on to a core
group of cows are positioned for great profitability for many years to come.
During the recent Super Bowl Dodge Trucks extolled the virtues and toughness
of our farming and ranching culture in the “So God made a farmer”
advertisement. Photographs of farmers/ranchers and words spoken in the rich
baritone voice of Paul Harvey captures the essence of why we are so proud and
so darn determined to fight through droughts and other adversity. The world
needs to be fed, so God made a farmer!
Our Sale Manager, Auctioneer and a founding member, Kyle Gilchrist,
believe’s that this is the best set of bulls that we have ever offered from top to
bottom. It is an excellent set of bulls with a good blend of Fall born and age
advantaged bulls combined with Spring born yearling bulls. All of these bulls
were developed on a forage based ration and brought along slowly in order to
ensure their soundness.
We have an excellent group of registered females and well over 100
commercial females. Many of the commercial females will be sold via video
over DVAuction with delivery scheduled at buyer’s expense on these cattle.
We will see you on March 9th in Shawnee, Oklahoma!
— The Red Alliance Team
Kelly Box
On July 13, 2012 the family of Kelly Box and our Red Alliance team lost Kelly. As
many of you know Kelly had battled cancer for quite some time. Kelly was an
instrumental leader on our team and participated in establishing many of the
principles we apply in the Red Alliance program. His contributions were significant
for the Texas Red Angus Association for many years and lead efforts that produced
some of the most outstanding Red Angus cattle sales in the country.
Our heart goes out to Sallye Box and all of Kelly’s family and friends. Kelly’s
memorial service was filled to standing room only capacity. There were many tough
cowboys in attendance with tears in their eyes and a lump in their throat. It was a
testament to his great legacy of servant leadership.
This is the second leader of our team that we have lost in the past few years. The first
was Wayne Ferguson. Wayne was a founding member of the Red Alliance and it
could not have become successful without him. Wayne and Kelly were good friends
and it was Wayne that brought Kelly to our group. It is not coincidental that two men
of such high moral integrity were friends and had such an impact on our Red Alliance
program. Both of them are sorely missed.
May God bless Kelly and his family.
