RANCH HORSE INVITATIONAL - SEPT. 4, 2013
Only get of studs on Pitzer Ranch’s list of qualified sires are eligible. The current list of qualified &/or paid-up studs is on page 10 or at
net. Once paid-up, sire’s get are eligible to enter the Ranch Horse Invitational. For that sire’s get to enter the Ranch Horse Invitational, the owner
of each qualified sire will need to pay the $500 nomination fee every year. If stud owner doesn’t want to pay the nomination fee, it can be waived
by written signature of stallion owner and then paid by anyone else. The payee receives the sire’s monies & awards earned by his get placing in
the Ranch Horse Invitational All-Around. Only horses 4-6 years old by a Paid-Up Sire will be eligible to enter the Ranch Horse Invitational.
Horses can be entered in any one up to all 5 of the events (Conformation is mandatory whether you enter 1 or all 5 events). Riders can exhibit up to
2 horses/event. Must compete in all events to be eligible for the All-Around. Stud payments are due by March 1st for the best rate. Payments after
due date are based on age of the crop year being paid + $500 penalty if after March 1. HPI entries are due by June 30th (No late entries accepted).
Require: western tack (any bit or rein type) & attire (boots, cowboy hat,& long-sleeve shirt). No tie-downs in trail.
CONFORMATION
No entry Fee. Conformation scored only as PASS or FAIL.
Horse inspected at the walk & trot. Lead to inspection with any piece of equipment (halter or bridle).
All Horses that PASS Conformation will receive bonus points towards their All-Around Score.
COWBOY TRAIL
$50 ENTRY FEE - 100% PAYBACK - 1/2 mile course estimate.
Each exhibitor can show up to 2 entries.
Each failed obstacle adds penalty to total trail course time.
The fastest time through total course wins.
Ties broken by run-off through another course.

1-man ranch sorting
(bringing in the hots)
The purpose of this event is to simulate A.I. work or sortin’ sicks out of the yearlings.
$50 ENTRY FEE - 100% PAYBACK - Each exhibitor can show up to 2 entries.
Enter area. Bring preset # of cattle 1 at a time into pen. Shut gate on horseback behind each cow. Repeat until total # of
cows required are penned separately from original herd. Final close of gate stops clock.
Fastest time wins. Not penning a cow results in a refusal penalty to total time.
jackpot team roping
$50 entry fee for either end. Heading & Heeling are separate events.
Each person can only exhibit 2 horses. 2 fastest times determine winner.
If exhibitor is a #-5 or under they rope 3 head & count the 2 fastest times.
Exhibitors #‘d-6 or higher only rope 2 steers = both runs count.
Each person can only help 3 entries but can use a “help horse of any age”.
(help horse does not have to be entered in the “Invitational”)
Help horse HD & HL jackpots=$50 entry fee each. 100% payback in the pot.

barrel racing
$50 entry fee. Each person can only exhibit 2 horses. Old-time rodeo rules: big arena, run rain or shine. Fastest time determines the winner.
ranch horse invitational - all - around champion horse
Class points earned in reverse order of time placing in each class.
All-Around Champion is determined by the highest point earner of all 6 events.
Prize Money $ Awards given to the Champions in:
TRAIL, SORTING, HEADING, HEELING, BARRELS & ALL-AROUND CHAMPION
Depth of prizes/monies from 2nd place on down to be determined by # of entries in each event.
Horses that win the All-Around must retire from entering any future Ranch Horse Invitationals..
All-Around horses can expect payback from an estimated $8000-$10,000 pot.
