When we started Bar A Cattle Company, our goal was to produce cattle that would be competitive on a high
level and produce them consistently. The last ten years we have dedicated our efforts to building a functional
cow herd that can produce champions and still work in the pasture. As a cattle breeder, we are never satisfied
and constantly trying to improve our management and genetics, but I am proud of the herd we have put
together and even prouder of the results our customers have had. Raising the Reserve Champion Steer in
Houston in 2006 and the Grand Champion steer in 2011 are moments we will never forget.
Studying genetics and planning matings has been my obsession for over 30 years—just ask my family, and this
is why we are selling the cow herd and starting Genesource. Genesource is a semen distribution, storage and
supply company that we hope to expand the next two years into embryo sales and consulting. We will handle
semen from multiple breeds and club calf bulls. We plan to continue to have our annual club calf sale in the
spring, selling the Sullivan Ranch fall calf crop along with several special consignments.
The most rewarding part of the last ten years has been the great customers and families that we have had the
pleasure to work with and get to know. Being a small part of a family’s or young person’s goals, whether it is
winning on the county level or being competitive at the majors, has made all of the hard work well worth it.
Thanks to everyone who has purchased cattle in our calf sales, all of the help who have worked countless hours,
Dan Sullivan for raising and supplying great cattle for our calf sale and, most importantly, my family for
allowing me to live my dream while supporting my efforts and putting up with me when things get busy.
These cows have been profitable for us, and I’m sure they will be for you too.

It is a great pleasure to work with Dave Allan and family at Bar A Cattle Company on the complete
dispersal of their cow herd and to invite you to be with us Sunday, October 28th, at 2 p.m. for this
monumental dispersal. Dave has spent the past 10 years accumulating these elite club calf raising
genetics, and the herd is available to you in its entirety.
I have always admired Dave’s ability to not only see livestock but to mate them and have them go on to
produce great things, no matter what breed or segment of the beef business. This is a once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity to acquire the genetics that have put Bar A Cattle Company on the map the past 10 years in
the club calf business. The females are very maternal and are very versatile, which makes them unique.
They have produced champions at all levels—major shows, state shows, county shows and local shows.
Many of the genetics selling were hand selected by Dave out of herds that few people ever get to go
through, so this truly is a unique opportunity to acquire these females and add them to you herd.
As one chapter closes at Bar A Cattle Company and Dave seeks his new business venture, let this be a
new chapter for your program. You have the opportunity to acquire proven foundation females that
have documented success with both banners and monetarily.
