Our Valued Cooperators
D CROSS GENETICS
is a family operation located near
Morrowville, Kansas. Members include Larry, Marcella, Ed,
Jennifer, Austin, Wyatt and John Durst. Together we run around
400 head of Red Angus and commercial SimAngus fall and spring
calving cows and manage a diversified farming operation. The cat-
tle graze native grass pastures from spring through fall, then utilize
stalk fields until a few weeks before spring calving in March.
When Ed and Jennifer finished at K-State and returned to the
ranch, we began progressively utilizing artificial insemination. We
have 17 years of experience running recipient cows and raising ET
calves for Lyons Angus Ranch & Pelton Simmental/Red Angus, as
well as for our own Red Angus herd. Our experience and success with artificial insemination prompted the beginning of
D Cross Feeders, a custom feeding and heifer development business. We take pride in and continually research the best
methods for developing, synchronizing, and AIing heifers to be long-lasting & productive cows.
In 1997, we purchased our first Red Angus purebred cows and marketed bulls by private treaty until 2001, when we
hosted our first annual bull/female sale. In 2009, we were humbled to begin marketing our bulls through this prestigious
sale. We consider it a blessing to know and work with the Pelton families. Their integrity is second to none.
Gary and Kathy Roberts of Belleville, KS, are proud owners of some of the Red Angus cows we manage under the
DRST prefix.
We believe it is important to be involved in community and industry organizations. Collectively we are active in our
church, KRA, RAAA, ASA, NCBA, KLA, Farm Bureau, 4-H, FFA, FFA Alumni, and Extension.
We are all thankful to be stewards of the land and cattle the Lord has blessed us with and desire to be advocates for
Him and for agriculture.
God Bless, The Durst Family
ANDERSON LAND AND CATTLE, INC.
is a family-
owned and operated cow-calf and no-till farming operation located near
Oberlin, KS. Artificial insemination has been used continually for thir-
ty-five years, using synchronization protocols on 50-60 heifers and 300
mature cows each year. A purebred Simmental herd was developed,
beginning in 1978 with bulls and replacement heifers being sold
through state association sales, bull test stations and private treaty. Red
Angus breeding was introduced in the mid 1990’s, adding hybrid vigor
and improving carcass traits. Carcass data collection is a top priority for
us and using those results over the years, we’ve been able to make
breeding decisions that have allowed progressive improvements. 2004
data showed 0% prime and 73% choice carcasses to 2014’s 18% prime
and 98% choice and above. Over 600 head of cattle have earned eleven
Red Angus Grid Master awards in the last 5 years. Feeding at home
through the entire process, we feel we get a good handle on, perform-
ance, feed efficiency and herd health.
All around herd performance is very important to us, from the mater-
nal side to terminal feedlot steers. Through total herd analysis, we
select bloodlines carefully to move us forward in our business. We
enjoy raising quality cattle, and get excited every year when a new calf
crop hits the ground. We look forward to the future, as we continue to
take advantage of the technology that allows us to keep improving and building our herd. We consider it a privilege to
work with the Pelton’s, as one of their recipient herds, and their willingness to let us include offerings in their sale. We
appreciate their integrity and dedication to the cattle industry, and congratulate them on their many successful and wor-
thy achievements.
Sincerely, The ALC crew
