Dear Friends, Fellow Cattlemen and Women,
It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to our 41st Annual Production Sale! We would
like to thank all of our loyal customers who continue to support our program, and we hope the past
year has been a good one for you and your families. We once again have experienced some exciting
changes since our last sale. On November 14th, we welcomed our first grandson, Avery Scott. He
has filled our hearts with joy, and we couldn’t be more proud of him and our granddaughter Chandler!
Another big change is that Tanae’ has joined the Hart Angus crew full time. However, the most notice-
able change for all of us is our sale format. After much consideration, we have decided to have a video
only sale. We still want you to join us for an Angus beef lunch at 11:00, the sale will still start at 1:00,
and the bulls will still be penned for viewing on sale day. The only difference is that they will not be run
through the sale ring. Instead, bidding will take place as videos of the bull play on large TV monitors.
You are always welcome to come and view our sale offering at any time prior to the sale, and we will have the
bulls penned on Saturday, the 20th, Sunday the 21st, as well as sale day.
Here at Hart Angus Farms we use elite genetics on both sides to bring you a superior end product. We believe that performance is bred in, not
fed up. So, to provide our customers with leading edge technology and genetic information, we use all of the readily available tools in the ever-changing
livestock industry. These include i50k testing, Artificial Insemination, embryo transplants, ultrasound, and new this year to our program, in vitro fertilization.
The genetically enhanced EPDs produced by the i50K testing have brought a new level of accuracy and valuable information for all producers. Therefore, we
have decided to i50K test our entire replacement heifer crop in order to move our program forward and to meet marketplace demands. As a result, we will be
able to gather more genetic information to pass on to you to use as a tool for making the best possible selection for your operation. We continue to A.I. and
flush our best cows to what we feel are the best bulls in the breed. We are also very excited to be a part of in vitro technology and hopefully will be able to
offer bulls by this practice in our sale in the near future.
With that being said, we do not solely select by the numbers. We rigidly and regularly score our animals, culling those that do not meet our stan-
dards. We cull females that have poor dispositions, poor legs and feet, inferior teat and udder structure, and low quality milk. Our cows must maintain excellent
fertility and be long-lived. They must be phenotypically correct, feminine and angular, so they calve easily, and feed their calves properly. We strive for a mother
cow that can wean a calf at least 50% percent of her weight.
As far as the sale offering this year, we truly believe that this is our best set of bulls yet. We make this same statement every year, and every year
we work hard to back it up. All but 6 bulls in the sale are out of A.I. sires. Our lead off sire group is out of Payweight 1682. He puts out good, stout calves
with a lot of middle. We also have some great calves out of Checkmark and Kingdom, the bulls that we own with Accelerated
Genetics, as well as Icon, which is owned with ORIgen. Other A.I. sires represented include Tour of
Duty, Reserve, Ten X, and Cash to name a few. We are excited to be able
to offer our first calves out of Prototype (owned with Genex), and Record
Breaker 3480, which will certainly not disappoint. Up and coming sires at
Hart Angus include Barstow Bankroll B73 and BJ Daybreak 3102.
It is our pleasure and privilege to be your source for all of your
bull buying needs. Once again, we want to thank all of the progressive
Cattlemen and Women for their interest and support in our program. Just
a reminder that the bulls will be penned sale day weekend for viewing
prior to the sale on Monday. If you prefer to come earlier, visitors are
always welcome at Hart Angus Farms! We look forward to seeing all of
you on the 22nd!
Sincerely,
The Harts
Brad, Shawn, Kelli & Avery
Alex, Tanae’ & Chandler
Dear Cattlemen,
Conover Auction Service has had the good fortune of serving the Hart Family in
their production sale needs for a great many years. During that time this Angus operation has
evolved according to the needs of an ever changing industry that makes demands on producers
for growth rate, carcass value and feed efficiency. Brad Hart has met these demands and
simultaneously maintained calving ease, fertility, maternal ability and functional soundness
that has kept his customers coming back year after year.
This Angus evolution has caught the attention of astute Angus purebred breeders and bull
studs resulting in some headline grabbing sales in recent years. Brad Hart and Conover
Auction Service are grateful for this recognition however the focus of this operation remains
in satisfying their repeat commercial customer base.
Brad’s most recent herd sire acquisitions should verify his intent, and the tremendous EPD spreads on this sale offering
should quantify the results of an operation bent on making calving time less stressful and payday more remunerative.
Plan to spend February 22nd in Frederick, SD with Jeanne and I
and the Hart Family. We look forward to greeting you personally.
Sincerely,
Al and Jeanne Conover
