Dear Friends:
Welcome to the Appalachian Classic Sale! I have to say this is the most exciting sale we have ever had due to the
quality and number of high quality lots from a wide variety of programs and consignors. We have just about all the
major bloodlines involved giving everyone something for their programs. I salute the breeders for consigning only
some of their best genetics, after all, this is their name and reputation on the line and they have responded exuberantly.
I have used almost 10,000 words in the footnotes to describe the cattle in the sale. Most of the cattle are very easy to
describe due to their records of production, the proven pedigrees, and uniqueness of the genetics. How different that is
when there is no pedigree to speak of, no breeding to top sires, and poor EPDs. But that is also reflected in the prices
those cattle receive! Thankfully we don’t have hardly any of those in this sale. (There are a couple that got close)
Think about this when you buy an animal—what will you say about it when you want to sell it or its offspring? One
thing certain, there are many very outstanding lots in the sale and I can assure you there will be opportunities to
purchase some great buys when there are this many GREAT ONES! There are probably more qualified donor cows
and prospects than ever before in this sale. If you want some top-level Pairs or replacement heifers I think you will be
greatly pleased with the quality offering!
