WELCOME
Dear friends and fellow beef producers,
Welcome to the 73rd Kansas Bull Test Sale. We are excited to offer you an excellent line up of over
100 registered bulls and 15 registered heifers from 7 different breeds. The heifers are a new addition to KBT
#73 and we are thrilled to announce their availability. These heifers will add value to your commercial or
registered herd. The offering stems from the top animals from well over 200 on test. When we say these bulls
have been on “test”, we feel very strongly about the meaning of this term. This is not a “test” to see how much
weight or fat we can put on these animals. However, this is a test that takes many factors of production into
consideration to sort out the best animals we have to offer. What we are really doing is comparing the bulls
to each other under the same conditions and best management that we can provide. In turn, the bulls will
separate themselves out from one another.
KBT has some additional breeds to offer in the sale this year. With a selection of Hereford, Limou-
sin, Red Angus and Shorthorn bulls you are certain to find what you need at the Kansas Bull Test. We have
thoroughly enjoyed working with the seed stock producers of the sale. You will find a very nice offering with
quite a selection of bloodlines. One of our main goals is to take these good genetics and turn them into effec-
tive breeding bulls with soundness and fertility in mind. Dr. Traffas does all of the breeding soundness exams
for the Kansas Bull Test. He has commented on the condition of the bulls, “Instead of being over-conditioned,
the bulls are hard bodied and ready to go to work”. So buy these bulls with confidence!
AT KBT, we always DNA test every bull in the sale. However, this year we have made one slight
change. The Angus bulls selling have all been HD50K tested. The HD50K test is becoming more popular in
the Angus breed. The main reason for this is the test increases the accuracies of the EPD’s. Therefore, it gives
a little more confidence of the accuracy behind the EPD. All other breeds selling in the sale have the Igenity
profile as always.
It is not news to anyone that we are in a time of record beef prices. We are in a time of growth and
efficiency in the beef industry. With the data and genetics we have available today, be certain that KBT will
have what you are looking for in a sire. Not to mention with steers and heifers going to market clicking in at
$2100 to $2500, it is most certainly a good time to find the right bull to sire your next $200,000+ of calves(-
figuring each bull sires 100+ calves in a lifetime).
Please be sure to look at the videos of the sale offering! They will be available for viewing on our
website,
, by March 15th. If you plan to place your bids online, be sure to register
with DVAuction in advance. For those who are not able to watch the sale online but would like to bid, proxy
bidding is also available through DVAuction. We look forward to seeing you on sale day!
