We will sell by video (the cattle will not be at the
sale site) 40 head of 3 & 4 year old cows from the heart
of the O’Brien cow herd. The cows were all home raised,
have been calfhood vaccinated, tested negative for PI/
BVD and double vaccinated for Trich Guard. All of these
cows raised a calf last year and thus far have stood up to
Zak’s stringent culling procedures. They were AI bred to
New Concept, Augustus, and Landau on 6/28-29/2013
and clean up bulls removed Sept. 1. Clean up bulls were a
Brangus and Ultrablack bull from the O’Brien’s excellent
herd bull battery. They will start calving the end of March
and O’Brien’s will deliver sound uddered cows with
calves at side ready to be bred back. The AI calves at side
are 3
rd
generation AI calves as their dams were sired by
such well known Angus and Brangus sires as Connealy
Lead On, Connealy Impression, Connealy Sullivan, GAR
Loaded, Suhn’s Next Step 331R7, and Suhn’s Distinction
plus their dams were primarily sired by Suhn’s Next
Step 331R7, Suhn’s Alydar 416N3, and Suhn’s Affirmed
416N4. This will make an excellent set of replacement
females as the majority of the culling process has already
been handled through the first two calf crops and it
is not often that you are afforded the opportunity to
purchase young productive females from one of the most
progressive and best managed operations in the country.
These females will sell in eight groups of five pairs
with the purchaser of the first group at the discretion
of the auctioneer and sale manger being able to take as
many groups as he wants up to eight groups. Bid price
will be per pair and cost of each group will be 5 times the
bid price with 25% payable the day of sale. Remaining
balance will be payable by May 1
st
. New owners will take
delivery between the 15
th
of May and first of June of cows
with live healthy calves at side. Vern Suhn & Zak O’Brien
will be at delivery site to sort cattle. The purchaser of the
first group gets the top sort, purchaser of group 2 the
second sort and so on until we have each group selected.
Point of delivery will be at the Zak O’Brien headquarters
in the northeast corner of OK just south of Edna, KS
or south and east of Coffeyville, KS. We will be able
to provide health papers for interstate shipment and
livestock will need to be loaded out on delivery date.
Not often does this opportunity avail itself to
have the chance to purchase commercial females with
this strong of a genetic base and from a program with
the management strength and pride plus the integrity
of ownership as the O’Brien program. Please contact

commercial bull customers that if you have females
for sale that are sired by our bulls we would welcome
