Briarwood Angus Farms
Dear Angus Breeders and Fellow Cattlemen,
It is a wonderful pleasure for me to have the opportunity to work with Dr. Curtis and Ann Long and David Warfield on this event. Few breeders
can prove the value of their breeding program with the data that they have produced, but Briarwood Angus Farms can. Since 1964 they have worked
to produce functional, good milking cattle that calve easily, grow rapidly and work well for the commercial cattleman. All the while understanding the
importance of the end product and the absolute necessity to breed cattle that ensure an outstanding eating experience for consumers.
Their longstanding commitment to the Angus breed has rendered eight generations of quality cattle and superior genetics. Doc understands the
importance of genetics and the vital role they play in producing cattle that excel for all traits of economic importance. Few if any have done more to
educate the next generation about the role that quality carcass genetics play in the success of the beef industry as a whole. This sale offering represents
that commitment, that understanding and that dedication to consistently producing a quality product that has the ability to create profit for everyone in
the supply chain.
As you study the bulls and females in this sale book, you will find cattle that consistently add value to the beef industry and excel for functionality
with the real world beef industry and commercial cattlemen in mind. The bulls are bred to work in any environment you put them in and the females
are young and represent the great maternal focus of the cowherd. All of the information in this sale book has been presented in order to provide you
with the tools necessary to make the most informed buying decision; I believe the data speaks for itself.
I hope you will mark your calendar and join us at Briarwood Angus Farms as we present the next chapter of this successful breeding program. The
cattle are outstanding and you will have an opportunity to invest in proven and reliable genetics designed to be profitable for the “Long” haul. If I can
answer any questions or be of service to you in any way please do not hesitate to let me know.
Respectfully,

Dear Angus Enthusiasts,
Your interest in the Briarwood Angus Farms program is the driving force behind our
ongoing commitment to beef herd improvement. Whether you purchase a bull, cow
or heifer, you can be confident that you are acquiring some of the most outstanding
genetics in the Angus breed today.
While the winter has been unusually tough, our herd has weathered the severe
temperatures and deep snows proving their hardiness and adaptability. In spite of the
harsh elements, our mother cows look excellent and have taken great care of their
offspring. With the addition of Native Prairie pastures at Briarwood, we’ve been able to
supplement our winter feeding program considerably and keep our offering in top-notch
condition so you can take home stock ready to go to work in your herd.
The market is high, cost of feed is down and good quality Angus cattle have never
been worth more. To add value to the deal, Briarwood cattle consistently perform in
the pasture and on the rail. Our latest carcass data resulted in 100% Choice and we
consistently have 50%-60% qualify for CAB
®
. The average ribeye for the last three
years on Briarwood steers is above 14 square inches. Those kinds of numbers can
become your story too with our genetics designed for balance and carcass success. We
have a proven herd sire, Briarwood Super 7093 that goes back to 1407. He’s a calving
ease bull with actual carcass data (50% of his calves go Prime) and his daughters are
making outstanding replacement females with excellent udders and dispositions. We
heartily recommend to any Angus breeder who wants to improve on both the maternal
and terminal side of the picture, this line of Briarwood genetics.
Briarwood Farms is in the business of raising superior Angus beef and we hope to
help you succeed. Feel free to come by and visit with any of our crew. Thank you and
we’ll see you sale day.
Sincerely,
Doc Long, owner
