Ultrablack GENETICS
The partners within GENETRUST first
experimented with breeding Angus to Brangus in 1996
and were impressed with the results. At that time the
IBBA was not able to compute EPDs on the cattle and in
turn backed off the program for a few years but retained
the females and mated them back to Brangus sires. The
progeny from these matings convinced us that by putting
Brangus back on them that they became more predictable
and consistent in their type and performance. We made
the decisions to move forward with the program in the
early 2000’s and eventually the IBBA was able to start
computing EPDs so we could more thoroughly evaluate
the progeny and provide our commercial customers with
more reliable information.
Our goal from the beginning, as it is today, was
to breed cattle that would benefit and enhance what
our commercial customer needs. It did not take long
for us to realize the added benefits Ultrablack could
have when properly implemented into the purebred
population through a breeding up to Brangus program.
We were encouraged when the IBBA bylaw change
passed in 2014, enabling breeders to register these
cattle as Brangus animals once they reach a 7/8 Brangus
percentage, not only adding value to the cattle that were
currently in the population but opening doors to future
expansion of the Ultrablack program breed wide.
We encourage your evaluation of the Ultrablack
bulls in this offering and the potential these cattle
could have on the future of your program. Demand for
Ultrablack progeny has continued to climb within the
GENETRUST customer base, as well as throughout
the industry, proving the tremendous marketplace
acceptability, which is
always an important
factor when analyzing
the potential of
new programs. The
Ultrablack program
has stood the test
of time and will
continue to help
our breed conquer
more market share.
Take advantage
of the nearly
two decades of
Ultrablack breeding
experience within
the GENETRUST
organization.
