Horse Friends:
As we all know, the only thing constant is change. This year our ranch lost Two Eyed Red
Buck in April and Real Smart Mate the end of July. They will both be missed in our breed-
ing programs, but two good changes also happened this year. We are excited about our new
additions of Royal Blue Quixote and Mr Two Song Jack. “Blue” brings total outcross, cow,
color and disposition to the table. “Mr. Ed” offers old school type from families that have
been our bread & butter since the 1960’s.
Look back to the early years of AQHA Champions and the Two Eyed Jacks were there.
Many more have been crowned in the 40 years since. In the past 4 years we have had 4
moreWorld Champions & 2 Reserves which proves our same bloodlines are still competitive.
With about 530 head consigned, you will have many to select from in whatever category
you are looking at. For about the last 20 years I’ve scored our colts in July when we lead
them. Through the years, a lot of our regular customers have requested the #s, so this
year I decided to publish them in the catalog. I rate them from 1 – 10, with 5 is a good,
functional, average score and 10 is what I consider perfect. The “zip code” looking scores,
in this order, represent HEAD, NECK, BALANCE, MUSCLE then SIZE. The last number
has a lot to do with the age of the colt and is not necessarily a prediction of his adult size.
Come enjoy the comradery and old-school, hard knocks competition of the HPI on Sept
3rd. It gives a glimpse of how our own family lines compare against each other. Thursday
at 8 a.m. come watch the ranch crew present the amazing sight of driving in the huge herd
of Pitzer Ranch mare & colt pairs to be penned for your sale inspection. At 1 p.m. we start
the performance preview of started colts and broke horses. It is a chance for all buyers to
watch them perform and narrow down their selections. If you have any questions,
