Welcome to our Annual Fall Female Sale!
What a time to be in the cattle business! The rewards are being felt for
those of us that have hung in there and didn’t mind getting our boots dirty!
Red Angus has become the breed of choice to rebuild the nation’s cow
herd, with females demanding premiums all across the country. At Jacobson
Red Angus our goal has been and continues to be, to build a “Cow Herd” built
on maternal traits, with udders, disposition and sound structure as the keys to
our selection criteria. We have designed cattle that work in our environment
first, and then we have applied and utilized the EPD values that best suit our
cattle. We feel Red Angus is the calving ease breed of choice for today’s
cowman.
For the past 12 years now, our registered cows have been summered
on the Oxley Hereford Ranch, and we are very thankful to have a great
relationship with their ranch manager, Bob Schafer. It is a large native grass
ranch where we have been able to treat our cows like real cows - with no
special treatment or excuses. The group of aged cows we are selling have
stood the test of time and have held up, bred, and calved in these real world
conditions. We are also selling a select group of registered and commercial
bred heifers, as well as the pick of our 2014 heifer calves sired by our exciting
new herdsire, 5L Mtn Sign 435-10Z.
Val and I feel blessed with all the people we have met and the
friendships we have made being involved with this great breed. I have been
fortunate enough to serve in our state association as well as serving on the Red
Angus Association of America Board of Directors.
We look forward to seeing familiar, as well as new faces at the sale.
