to the brand new Red Angus marketing concept theme sale called Under the Influence! All of us here at Brylor Semen
Sales (BSS) are very proud of this concept and are extremely happy to be working with Kyle Gilchrist as the managing
intellect behind this event. It is only the beginning of several new, innovative, creative and totally up-beat and exciting
concepts we have in store for the Red Angus buying public in the next few years! It all started last year with the
electric MULBERRY MAYHEM SALE we hosted to honor the grand old man called Mulberry 26P. This year, the
theme of the sale in Emporia, Kansas is all about the influence the Brylor program has had on the Red Angus breed for
the last 50 years. (Brylor’s herd was established in 1962 – the pioneer program in Canada).
A very solid marketing team, I believe, between Kyle and myself when you consider that the two guys on the block
representing these cattle have 90 years experience in the breed alone!! A pretty cool deal when you consider that two
Red Angus breeders are lending some very capable hands to market other breeders’ cattle. Both Kyle and I do not
consider our fellow breeders “the competition,” but rather them our friends and customers. If we could all get pulling
the rope in the same direction,
there would be no “whoa” what so
ever for this breed in the world!!
Just imagine!
This theme concept is not new to
us at Brylor. Since 1998 in Olds,
Alberta Canada BSS hosted its first
All A.I. concept sale and it ran for
10 years. We also hosted five
saskatchewan Senorita Sales, seven
Manitoba Magic’s and six Ontario
Autumn Colors events. All were of
the BSS / All A.I. marketing
system, and all were very well
accepted by both the sellers and
purchasers.
Kyle and I have worked closely
over the years on several different
sales such as Reno, Denver,
Damar, Kickoff Classic, Magnolia
Classic, Fehrman, Perks/Walnut
Springs Farm and Star Studded
events. But both of us are
especially wound up about this
new deal. The future possibilities
are limitless. We spent three days
in August planning basically the
next five years of this kind of
annual event. In fact, next year in
Emporia will be a huge 2-day / 2-
event system with the 2nd MORE
MAYHEM EXTRAVAGANZA
featuring once again…Mulberry!
Be with us first, though, in 2012 at

Welcome to the 2012 Under the Influence Auction!!
As this catalog becomes a reality and goes to the printer for distribution, a lot of
enthusiasm in the Gilchrist Auction Company headquarters is mounting for the Under
the Influence Auction. The quality of Red Angus genetics in this year’s sale is
absolutely superb and the future and longevity of this auction is unprecedented.
As you will learn by reading this catalog, Bryan Mackenzie and I have committed not
only countless hours this year, but are planning into the next five years for this event!
The first change was moving the sale to a weekend for ease of travel (last year it
was on a week day). Next year the More Mulberry Mayhem auction will be on
Saturday and the Under the Influence Auction will be the following day on Sunday to
allow you to attend a 2 day / 2 event /one location, Red Angus mega-marathon. You
can be assured the festivities will be high so make plans now to attend October 5
and 6, 2013 and be a part of this history making Red Angus event.
This year, I traveled to Canada to get a glimpse of, and experience the Brylor Ranch.
I was expecting great cattle, and I was not disappointed. The Mackenzie family and
Brylor Ranch are the foundation pioneer herd of Red Angus cattle in Canada – over
50 years of breeding and perfecting Red Angus genetics – and it is evident as you
look through the many great cow families and females in their pastures. The ranch is
a beautiful grass and hay producing area North of Glacier National park and was
absolutely gorgeous in August (not sure I would enjoy their winters, however). If
there ever was a perfect cow/calf location on this planet, north of the border may
be it – ‘Ay.
The Under the Influence team is excited to welcome you to this year’s event. The
phone number of the owner is listed with each lot and we encourage you to contact
them or either of us regarding questions you may have. The title “Under the
Influence” means that all genetics in this offering must be sired by or bred to bulls
that were represented by Bryan Mackenzie and the Brylor Semen Sales catalog. If
you would like to participate in the future, please familiarize yourself with the Brylor
Semen line-up and make your breeding plans accordingly.
