Breeding Guarantee:
All bulls are sold as guaranteed breeders to settle cows or heifers in
natural service. If within six months following the sale, the buyer
has evidence that the bull is not a breeder, the buyer may obtain a
statement signed by a licensed veterinarian to that effect, such state-
ment also indicating that there has been no injury or illness to the
animal following the sale, and return the bull to Sonstegard Cattle
Co for adjustment. If Sonstegard Cattle Co cannot then prove the
bull to be a breeder, an adjustment will be made by either, substitut-
ing a bull of equal value, or credit towards the purchase of a bull at
any future Sonstegard Cattle Co production sale.
Lunch:
Free lunch will be served prior to the sale starting at 11:30, so come
early and allow yourself ample time to eat and view the bulls.
Semen Interest:
Sonstegard Cattle Co. will be retaining a 1/2 revenue sharing semen
interest in some bulls, those bulls will be marked in the footnotes.
This allows us the option to collect and use those bulls in our own
program or share in the marketing of semen on those bulls. Any
semen collection will be done at our expense and the buyers conven-
ience.
Semen Evaluation:
All bulls selling will have passed a fertility test prior to the sale, and
the certificates will be available sale day. Scrotal circumference will
be taken at testing time and that information will be made available
prior to the sale.
Trucking / Delivery:
When full settlement is made on your bull purchases we will make
delivery arrangements with you.
We will be offering free delivery
within 400 miles on bulls selling for $2500 or more, and for buy-
ers who purchase multiple bulls. All other purchases will be
delivered at cost.
Or bring your trailer and haul your bull home
and receive an extra $50/bull discount on your bull purchase.
We are flexible and can work with you on arrangements for keeping
and delivering your bulls, but we also ask that you be flexible with
us when it comes time for delivery so we can coordinate loads and
deliver for least possible cost.
Ultrasound Data:
The yearling bulls will have a carcass ultrasound before the sale.
We will provide a supplement sheet with the measurements, as well
as all the updated carcass EPD’s. The sheet will be available two
weeks prior to the sale on our website, or upon request, and at the
sale.
TB/Trich Testing:
All necessary TB and Trich testing of animals going out of state or
into TB accredited herds will be completed after the sale at our ex-
pense. If you have questions on your states health requirements give
us a call and we can get you some answers to your questions.
Genetic Defect Testing:
Using the guidelines of the Red Angus Association, every potential
carrier bull will be tested.
Location:
Sale is located at the River Ranch approximately three miles north-
west of Montevideo, MN. Directions can be found on the inside
back cover of the catalog.
Sale Order/Cattle Viewing:
Bulls will sell in catalog order. All bulls are here at the ranch and
can be viewed anytime prior to sale day. Just call ahead and we will
be glad to show them to you.
ADG/Frame:
The ADG is the lbs/day each bull gained from Weaning until
2/18/2013 when we took our Yearling Wts. The gain ratio compares
how each bull gained against the average of all 88 yearling bulls on
test. The Frame measurement will be taken prior to sale time to the
best of our ability. This is not an official score but a guide to what
Frame the bull might be. This score will be printed in the catalog.
CES:
This score is our recommendation on how the bull should be used
based on his EPDs, his shape and pedigree.
