Welcome to the “Cut Above” Sale
Welcome to the Fourth Annual Quail Creek“Cut-Above” Sale.Thank you for your interest in our animals and the breeding programs
that are represented in this year’s sale. We’ve got what you are looking for…animals that will meet
ALL
your cattle needs!
But, first a word of thanks and appreciation to all those who worked so hard to make our 2012 sale a success and have once again
stepped up to carry the load of getting the 2013 sale up and running. Doug Williams, sale manager; Michael Sturgess, advisor; Lakin Oakley,
auctioneer; Nancy Pruitt, photographer; Lea Stokes, advertising and“jack of all trades”, Andrew Conley, Luke Mobley and Jimmy Fetner ring
men; Wade Fisher and the DV Auction staff and, of course, the great folks at the Cullman Stockyard! Great job on the sale last year and for
the success we expect for this year’s sale!
Now, for the reason we are here, the animals! This year we have increased the number of bulls offered and we think you will be
impressed. We are offering five groups of full brothers allowing buyers to increase the consistency in their calf crops. We are also offering a
number of full sisters out of our donor cow families 27N2, 188R, 289R and 23S85.
Last year, at this time, we were really excited about our purchase of Estancia 263X4 from our good friend Ray Johnston and that excite-
ment has not diminished one bit. Estancia’s calves are just what we had expected them to be.We bred him to heifers as well as cows with
exciting results in both cases. We flushed many of our donors to him and have already implanted over 50 embryos from these matings.
Estancia, Garrett, and Chattooga semen will be available at the sale, so be sure to bring your semen tank.We can also offer custom flushing to any of our donors including
27N2, 188R, 289R, 23S85, U297, 24X3, 007, 541S99, 734W3, 740T13, 624W and our latest addition Ms Too Kool 129Y49.
It is with a heavy heart that we tell you of the loss of our much loved Garrett of Brinks. He died on January 4, 2013 at the age of nine. He was our“favored son” and will be
sorely missed for a host of reasons. Garrett was such an even tempered animal and an outstanding breeder.Thankfully, he will live on in his amazing progeny and we will be able
to watch his genetics continue in the Brangus breed.
Our sale partners are such an asset to our sale and we appreciate their support. We could not do it without them!
