Dear Fellow Cattlemen,
Please join the Nygard’s on sale day for the Northfork Angus Dispersion. This herd
was started in 1948 and has strived to develop optimally sized cows that excel in
thickness and muscling that are geared for the commercial cattlemen as well as the
seedstock producer.
The Nygard’s incorporate carcass bulls into the program without losing focus on
milking ability, birth weights and reproductivity. The desired end product is a
purebred Angus that is stout, well muscled with the optimal frame size that will
thrive when put to work for the commercial rancher. These females are bred for the
real world and will be a great addition to any herd.
We look forward to your attendance on the 29
th
in
Watertown for this sale event. Please don’t hesitate
to contact someone from the CAS staff or Gary
and family with any questions.
Sincerely,
AL & JEANNE CONOVER

Dear Cattlemen;
It is with mixed emotions that we have made the decision to have a total
dispersion. We have a lot of good memories from being in the cattle business
over the past 38 years from heat detecting on horseback with our sons, to
showing cattle, attending sales, and meeting a lot of genuinely good people
in the cattle business. However, there comes a time when our bodies tell us
it’s time to quit with some of the physical things we do, and anyone in the
cattle business knows it’s a physical occupation.
It all started 66 years ago in 1946 when my dad, Philip, and his brother, Glenn, bought their first Angus cows, the beginning
of Nygard Brothers Angus. In 1979, Philip and I formed Northfork Angus and have strived to improve the herd using “calving
ease with performance” as our motto.
The cattle are up to date on their vaccinations including Bruccelosis, Cattlemaster Gold and Vision 7. All herd bulls will be trich
tested and ready for service in South Dakota. We have ultrasounded the cows to get a due date and sex of the unborn calves. I
like to think they are an honest set of cattle. What you see is what grass has done. I did creep feed the calves this year for about
3
weeks so we could wean a month early so we were not selling bawling calves on sale day. Weaning weights were taken the
day after they were weaned.
Anyone is welcome to come to our farm to look at the cattle ahead of time. Just call our home at 320-289-2010 or call Gary’s
cell 320-444-3078. The cattle will also be available for viewing at the North Barn in Watertown, SD on Sunday, October 28 and
the morning of the sale on the 29
th
.
We would like to thank all of our customers from over the years. There are many, and we have enjoyed getting to know all of
you. We hope you find that the cattle you buy here today will do a good job for your operation like they have for ours.
Sincerely,
Gary & Carol Nygard
