Huntin’ with the Barks Boys!
At the newly acquired “Bear Essential Wilderness Adventures!”
Come hunting for northern Saskatchewan black bears with the Barks family (publishers of the Deer Tracking
Magazine) and experience the true wilderness. Enjoy a spring-time adventure where we spend our winters on
the trapline! Bears emerge from hibernation normally between April 15-20 and hit bait sites almost immedi-
ately. Baiting is most effective prior to “green-up” which usually happens about mid-late May. For peak bear
activity enjoy a one-week hunt this spring between May 10-19, 2013. (No Sunday hunting). We will also accom-
modate extra hunting partners along with this donated NADeFA fundraiser as “show special” bookings allow
(see below for details).

Daily Schedule:
Most days will probably include a sleep in, big brunch, late lunch, snacks for during the hunt,
and late supper (depending on who is still hunting.) Typically hunters hit the stands about 3 PM and stay until
dark. Because we are camped literally amongst the bear stands, there is also the option of hunting early morn-
ing until dark for the extreme hunters. (Coon/ bloodhounds/solar electric fence for nighttime camp safety).
Daytime activities may include target practice/competition with bow or rifle, pelt preparation, photo shoots,
trapping demonstrations & stories, review trail cams or just read, relax, visit, and eat in camp.
Weather is somewhat unpredictable, but may be near freezing at night, with daytime temps hopefully 50-70
degrees F.
This is a remote location! Our goal is to intentionally maintain a true wilderness experience, with safety in mind,
while offering a few comforts to make the adventure enjoyable. We will work hard to accommodate special
requests.
Our family has lived up here in the wild for nearly half a year at a time for most of the last 10 years while
operating a genuine northern trapline. It is a great way of life that we look forward to sharing through a bear
hunt opportunity.
