Welcome to our 34th Annual Polled Bull Sale. This year marks our 54
th
year of breeding Charolais cattle. The cattle
market is profitable and cattlemen that are using superior Charolais bulls are being rewarded for their decision.
Our bull offering is loaded with polled, easy calving, fast growing genetics. Note the many bulls in this offering with
a high or plus Calving Ease Direct (CE) EPD. This number is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted
births in first-calf heifers. A high value indicates greater calving ease. It predicts the average difference in unassisted
births with which a sire’s calves will be born when bred to first-calf heifers. Also, please note the many bulls in this
offering with a low or negative Birth Weight (BW) EPD. This number reflects the expected difference in average birth
weight (pounds) of progeny. If you are concerned about calving genetics look for a positive (CE) EPD and a negative
or low (BW) EPD.
The bulls have been on a strict vaccination program. Please visit with Dr. Paul Ritter or myself if you have questions
concerning our herd health. All bulls selling are semen tested and have tested negative for BVD. Birth, performance
and EPD information is in the catalog. Ultrasound, scrotal and current weights will be available on sale day.
Our female offering was well received last year and we want you to know that this year will not take a back seat. Five
spring-calving, first-calf heifers with LT Long Distance heifer calves by side will again highlight this offering. The fall
calving cows are super milking, capacious females that all have big calves at their side. Also selling are three special
yearling heifers.
